Guest Hiten.
Why did he opt to bat first when he is well aware of the fact that dew kicks in early and is heavy during the middle overs of 2nd innings. Moreover, his bowling arsenal 4 spin bowlers making the decision even more ridiculous. He tried to do a Ponting (thinking outside the box, a la batting first against the odds) but ended up looking like MoFo ( Link to comment

Poor Shakib.:hehe: The fear of running into the Indian batting machine and getting swatted like a fly. Exactly. He was too scared of having to chase a huge total and lose badly. This way they lost, but saved some face by hitting some big runs against India. Link to comment

jusarrived
it was the correct decision , cos thats the only way bangla can beat big teams ..bat first , put a good total & hope for early wickets ..inspite of the dew , bangla could have defended this one ! Link to comment

Ram
He said at the post match presentation that he did not want to be a position where there would be chasing 350 runs, batting first. While that may sound reasonable, it seems a very negative way of looking things to simply concede that if you bowled first, your bowling unit isnt enough to restrict the opposition to anything below 350. As a captain, he has to play according his team's strengths and weaknesses. Unfortunately for him, there are more weaknesses than strengths. His bowling is not string enough for this Indian batting lineup and the only way was to put the pressure of a huge chase on them to lead them into making mistakes. He succeeded to some extent, but not fully. Link to comment

Besides, if Shakib isnt confident of restricting India to under 350 if they bat first, what makes him think they can restrict us (to any total), when we bat second? I first thought it was a bold move by Shakib, but the reaons he has given to justify it dont cut it for me. Link to comment
