Any chance for a comeback?

Aggy can outperform most of our current players when it comes to fielding. EASILY our best outfielder. BD tri series was nice platform for us to test our bench strength. Don't know why did he have to go with our regular XI :dontknow:

Alright, throw on the stats, bring him back in, and the next time there are 15 required off the last 2 overs and TAV gets the ball delivers and full toss and a long hop to finish the game off curse him! He would still end up with decent stats! If all those averages and wickets and stats were the only thing to look at why do you think he has been dropped from the team so many times?
no denying he has decent stats , he cant do worse than some of our current bowlers & am talking only for ODI's and T20s . we are not gaining anythig by playing our test bowlers in these meaning less ODI's & considering theres going to be IPL + T20wc + 30+ODIs every year , its not such a bad idea to rotate your bowlers & Agarkar isnt such a bad option imo .

we are not talking test matches here & 23 other bowlers dint win Ranji trophy for their side , Agarkar did !
On what basis are you asking for his comeback then if not his Ranji performance. And as I said, wait for the Ranji OD leg and the IPL to see how he will perform on pattas in ODIs/T20s if you want him back. The second statement is a result of spending too much time on the padosi website. Inzamam won a WC so he is better than Tendulkar.

But he often bowls short. That could against him. But he has much better control than some of the other bowlers we have.
bowls yorkers too , something our other bowlers cant do

tell me what a more relevant here ? his career ODI stats or 9 first class matches , assuming we are talking about a ODI recall . few reasons I have already given , apart from that hes still hitting 140+ , his batting seems to have improved too & if you check the Ranji final match thread , i said well in advance before Karnataka innings started that one bowler I was worried about was Agarkar , not the Kulkarnis or salvis ..point is I still rate him higher than a lot of our younger bowlers . anyway we will see in the IPL/Ranji ODI's & yes , no prizes for coming second , if you ask me !

Kapil Dev also has pretty good ODI career stats. We should recall him as well. The last time TAV played an ODI was two and a half years back and he was dropped because he sucked. What has he done since then that others in the domestic circuit haven't done to merit a recall?

Yeah he bowls phaasht and won the Ranji trophy. I am sorry I wasted your time. Come back to me when he does something selection worthy in the format you are talking about - there is Ranji OD and IPL coming up. Oh and I really liked your logic about how his bowling in Ranji needs to be ignored because it's in the longer format, but we have to consider his batting in the longer format. Again, sorry to have wasted your time. Perhaps people across the border will be more versed in understanding this kind of logic than poor old me.

I guess if AA comes back, its not so much a vote of confidence on AA, but more a realistic view of how pathetic our bowling resources are, combined with the fact that our (current) medium pacers are terrible in fielding and mugs with the bats. Sad.

giving couple of games against minnows is not a bad idea. But I think we should look ahead. Question is who is waiting to be called?? If we have better option, Aggy sir are better in the team to F=OFF players in ranjis.. I dont liike abusive people any way...we have couple already.

agarkar is not that old to be considered an oldie! if he has the ability to take wickets, i dont see why he cannot be in the team. zaheer ought to be rested for test matches, and well the less that is said about nehra and sreesanth v. 2.0 the better it is.

curious... where is laxmipati balaji?
He has excellent outswinger. But his speed is reduced 120ks which is not going to bother many. He definitely has skills though. But with his fragile body any extra effort will result in permanent injury. He has to spend rest of his time playing for TN.

I think that Agarkar deserves a chance in our side, should have been called in the team in Bangladesh after seeing his Ranji heroics, he is one of those bowlers who hasnt lost pace and movement unlike an Irfan Pathan who has lost the shape and movement and even pace so has handicapped his bowling, while agarkar has everything, but he needs to be consistent in his line and length.Agarkar has been proved fail when it comes to blocking runs, he gives easy freebies t oeven tailenders to cash in.I remember his performance at the Oval against England in an ODI in 07 where then debutant Luke Wright smashed him all round the park, he kept bowlin geither too short or too full and didnt bowl the ideal just back of the length.Luke kept carving him for runs, this is where he needs improvements, not to give boundary balls and look to attack more around the off stump probing line rather than on the pads drifting down or too wide outside the off stump for an easy drive or a cut.Other than that, he is good and can be thought of being drafted in the Indian side in coming months at least to prove his form right

Really this guy TAV (and u can add Irfan Pathan) - can field much better than the Nehras and Sreesanths and RPSinghs and Munaf Patels, and TAV and IKP can also bat better than them. Bowling wise, they will suck as bad as our present stock (and bench - Tyagi+Mithun). Even the best of our best ZK is not consistent in limited overs. Time for a comeback for TAV and IKP in T20s at least and then ODIs? Selectors goofed up the 30 probables, but I hope these two find a way back.
