Ram
yup. Fact is Yusuf is not at all reliable. True.. This was sometime around early-mid 2008, when we first started hearing about Yusuf. In fact, it was Amits who had Yusuf to all our attention. After that Salil too made a few references to a 'guy who was blasting domestic attacks apart and was a useful off-spinner also..' And when this guy was included in the ODI team and initially played a few blinders, oh boy, were we all excited or what. Could he be our long-term solution to that vital no.7 spot.. Things started reasonably well, but it has all gone downhill since. I suppose, at the least, he is still around in FC cricket making some runs.. Link to comment
h4te
Well done by Ganapathy. He took the wickets of domestic giants here and as far as I read, he bowled with terrific accuracy and swing and troubled everyone. Hope he carries on that way. Utility player or not, wicket taking is no joke and Ganpathy has taken as many wickets as Irfan Pathan in less number of overs. :omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg: Link to comment
vvvslaxman
He should be playing as a bowler and pressure will be less on him. We can use him in random positions for shock value. For some reason he was more consistent under Shane warne. Link to comment
thevortex
I was aghast at seeing some of those dismissals. Ganapathy was bowling only one ball all of yesterday for the most part- the inswinger. And the West Zone batsmen could not negotiate that? A shame, really. That is not to say Ganapath did not bowl well. But against better teams, this performance would not be a 5 wicket haul. By no means. I would actually give a large amount of credit to Aushik Srinivas who first brought Yousuf Pathan under leash and then dismissed him. No mean task considering the elder Pathan had savaged everybody - including Ganapathy en route to his smoldering century. Link to comment
Chandan
:omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg: What happened? Anyway, I watch first half an hour and wasn't happy with Pathan's bowling at all. There was no consistency in line and length and he was bowling bad balls more often than ever. No swing as well. Wicket is terrific to bat on, no dout but Kulkarni showed that wickets could be taken. He has taken 4 quick wickets but South are hammering along and are scoring at nearly 5 runs an overs. Karthik scoring fast once again when the team is in real need. Link to comment

More... Ganapathy puts South Zone in command V.V. Subrahmanyam Yusuf Pathan scores a dazzling hundred for West CLUELESS: C. Ganapathy castles Bhavik Thaker on the second day of the Duleep Trophy final. HYDERABAD: C. Ganapathy produced a quality spell of swing bowling to take a five-wicket haul and help South Zone dictate terms even as the hard-hitting Yusuf Pathan scored a dazzling hundred for West Zone on the second day of the five-day Duleep Trophy final here on Wednesday. West Zone was bowled out for 251 thus conceding a lead of 149 runs, as earlier South Zone totalled 400 in its fist innings. When South batted for the second time it finished the day at 42 for no loss. Lethal weapon It was a terrific display by the 28-year-old Ganapathy, who bowled with emphasis on line and length. And, his huge inswingers, were lethal. The dismissal of Wasim Jaffer was a fine example. Even as the batsman was in the process of taking evasive action, he was surprised by the extra bounce and the huge swing as the ball lobbed off the gloves to provide a simple catch to second slip. Then Ganapathy cleaned up Bhavik Thaker and went on to complete a deserving, five-wicket haul. In between, it was Yusuf (108, 76b, 12x4, 5x6) who batted in T20 mode, hitting the bowlers all over, blending raw power and great timing. The way he launched into a huge six over long-off against left-arm medium-pacer S. Aravind and then whacked three fours — all in one over — made it seem as if nothing was happening at the other end. The shot of the innings was when he leaned forward to thump Ganapathy into the sight screen. West batsmen seemed to be in a hurry as they scored 136 runs from 25 overs between lunch and tea but lost six wickets in the process. Prized scalp Young left-arm spinner Aushik Srinivas came back strongly after being hit for a six over long on by Yusuf, and eventually trapped the dangerman leg-before. Earlier, Irfan Pathan completed a five-wicket haul to ensure an early end to the South innings. Captain Dinesh Karthik threatened to continue from where he left off on Tuesday — lofting Irfan over mid-on and pulling him nonchalantly for a huge six in the same over. But, he eventually got out to a poor stroke. Link to comment
