Didn't see one so I thought would make one! Another hometown in Ahmadabad added! I guess, it will host quite a few games! Martyn and Vogues join the squad for the 3rd version. Atul Sharma, the hype, is still on the squad list so it will be interesting to see how he goes if he makes it to the playing 11. Kamran Khan and Amit Singh's bowling action has been cleared. I liked the way Kamran bowled in SA. The squad (according to IPLT20): Shane Watson Amit Singh Raphi Vincent Gomez Kamran Khan Ashraf Makda Paul Valthaty Srideep Mangela Mohd Arif Gajendra Singh Atul Sharma ? Pratmesh Salunkhe Pushkarraj Chavan Johan Botha Damien Martyn Adam Voges Paras Dogra Sidharth Chitnis Naman Ojha Shane Warne Graeme Smith Dimitri Mascarenhas Morne Morkel Shaun Tait Munaf Patel Yusuf Pathan Sidharth Trivedi Swapnil Asnodkar Niraj Patel Mahesh Rawat Anup Revandkar Ravindra Jadeja Dinesh Salunkhe Michael Lumb ? The RR official site doesn't list Lumb and Atul Sharma in the squad: http://www.rajasthanroyals.com/squad.aspx Squad as on RR's official site: Shane Warne Graeme Smith Shane Watson Johan Botha Shaun Tait Yusuf Pathan Munaf Patel D. Mascarenhas Morne Morkel Adam Voges Damien Martyn Swapnil Asnodkar Siddharth Trivedi Ravindra Jadeja Mahesh Rawat Niraj Patel Dinesh Salunkhe Anup Revandkar Naman Ojha Paras Dogra Paul Valthaty Raiphi Gomez Kamran Khan Abhishek Raut Srideep Mangela Amit Singh Ashraf Makda

Mumbai: Rajasthan Royals are known for making bold moves. Some of these have paid them rich dividends in the past and others have failed to deliver. This season again they are planning to gamble on some new talent and one whose inclusion has astonished many in the cricketing world. Speaking exclusively to iplt20.com, Rajasthan Royals CEO Sean Morris clarifies the franchise’s thinking behind these moves. Asked about the franchise’s association with Shane Warne, Morris said, “Shane Warne is, probably, the cricketer of the century and for us to have him leading our team is a great honour. He is such a part of the fabric (of Rajasthan Royals) and the players look up to him and he leads them so well by example that it has become part of the Rajasthan Royal way. He is a player who has got respect from everyone in world cricket.” Elaborating about Warnie’s leadership skills and his tactical astuteness, the Royals’ CEO said, “The other thing that Shane does is he, probably, thinks outside the box more than any other cricketer. And that’s why we chose him as the captain. The first non-Indian captain in IPL and he has done a pretty good job.” The inclusion of former Australian Test batsman Damien Martyn in the Royals’ squad has caused a lot of raised eyebrows. Discussing the reasoning behind Martyn’s selection, Morris said, “We felt that we needed a senior batsman with some international experience. And then you look through the various players that Shane Warne and the cricket management team identified and come out with someone who might be little bit from the left field. And Damien was desperate to play. Obviously, he has got a very good relationship with Shane. And is without doubt one of the class players of the last 10 years.” A lot of questions have been asked about the strategy behind picking up a relatively unknown player like Adam Voges. Speaking about Voges, Morris said, “And having Adam Voges as well was an absolute bonus for us. And if you look at Adam’s stats and look at his average in twenty20 cricket, look at his strike rate. I mean he is right up there with any other Australian player.” Kamran Khan, one of the find of IPL 2008, is on his way back. Speaking about the impact the young pacer, who is on a three-year contract with the Rajasthan Royals, will have on IPL 2010, Morris said, “I think everyone’s expectations are high. No doubt his are as well because he has potential to win you games. So, our expectation is for him to be a major part of a successful side. And clearly he and Warnie have a great relationship so we would like to see him keep progressing from where he was and where he has been in the last couple of years. So I think he’s going to be a key player for us.” Rajasthan Royals may have another secret weapon in their dug out: Atul Sharma. This tearaway paceman from Uttar Pradesh is the talk of the town. Speculating is rife that he regularly bowls at over 100 mph. Even IPL Chairman and Commissioner Lalit Modi has seen and been impressed by this new fast bowler. The Royals’ chief executive officer, though, downplays the hype surrounding the guy by pointing to the Royals’ philosophy of not focusing on individuals but on the team as a unit. He said, “It’s not about singling out individual players. Rajasthan Royals have always been a team of common bond and people fighting hard together and that spirit (of togetherness). And Atul will be a part of that as well. And really it will be up to the captain to decide how best to use him because he is a very, very talented guy.”
