I dont see why you should pity him. I mean no one in world cricket can feign ignorance about the complete nonsense that is PCB and its cricketing structure.

Greg wanted 100% control of the team which neither BCCI or PCB are willing to give it to the coach (because they elect coaches just because they have to).
