How long we can stay #1 in tests?

Now that we have gone through the full circle, lets measure and evaluate the possibilities. Knowing Aus, we will certainly lose our #1 position to them because they are playing so many tests in coming year. I think this is what is coming.... Aus : Mar: Playing NZ 2 tests June: Playing Pk 2 tests in england :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: Home series. Nov-Dec: Playing Eng 5 tests, Ashes :wall: :wall: :wall: SA : June: Playing WI 2 tests Dec: Playing Ind 3 tests. India : :omg: Other than SA in dec, which other test matches are we playing???... These BCCI babus are going to skrew us.. scheduling all useless T20, GPL etc etc..After a decade of struggle, we have reached to this position. We want to stay here... I know with 116 points, it will take some time for Aus to climb up and dethrone us. But for god's sake, Aussies are playing freaking 9 test matches in this year. And we are sucking on chaddi cricket for entire year...They have already played against Pakis at home...:omg: Saafies are playing 5 test matches this year and with 120 points, they can come close to us. In SA, we will have to win 1-0 or 2-1..no matter what. I am quite happy that we are comfortably #1. So at least until end of this year... :icflove:.no body can touch our #1 positions... Whoever claimed that we are not number 1....go #$@$@ off.. B->B->B->B->B->B->B->B-> When will they recalculate the rankings table based on current year???

India will be there for a long time. Australia will gain 1-2 points each even if they whitewash NZ and Pakistan. Ditto, South Africa against West Indies. India have a 3 test series coming up against Sri Lanka and then NZ. The Sri Lanka series is a great opportunity to consolidate our position at the top with a washed up Murali and a decoded Mendis, coupled with their relatively high ranking in the table.

If we could extend our lead before we go to SA, that would bee really nice. Let win in SA this time. It has been long time we have won away test series againt strong team. :giggle: In the mean time I want to hear some more whining from Aussiess.... please bring more crap Aussie experts... we want to hear you now..

We shouldn't worry about the rankings and look to perform on consistent basis. We have to capture Emerald island, RSA and Aussie land and this team has perfect composure to ensure we can actually overseas and concur the cricketing world :isalute:

I am reasonably confident that we will remain the no 1 team in the world at least till the end of 2010 irrespective of what others do. And how dearly I would love to see us win a test series in SL and then in SA. this is our golden chance to get the monkey off our back. For SA tour, Zak , Sree and Ishant will be a dream bowling lineup especially if the saffers prepare green tops (which I feel they will).

We're the only subcontinent team to win a series in England this decade (Australia has lost 2 consecutive series in England, by the way - when they were at the top of their powers).

We will probably play 3 tests in SL' date=' 2 or 3 against NZ at home and 3 against SA. SO we should be playing 8-9 tests this year. Just about the same as the Aussies pretty much.[/quote'] Thats awesome...lets show SL and NZ their places and earn some more ICC ratings.. Remember we need to keep wining as the old ratings will be obsolete every year..

Next dream is a white wash
We already achieved that against England (3-0) in a home series sometime around 1992-93. The series was (in)famous for the "prawn curry casualty" incident. That said, it'd be great to whitewash a team (not called Bangladesh or Zimbabwe) on their home-turf. Australia or South Africa...now THAT would be a dream.

Naa... I am not a big fan of White wash....I want to see Aus, SA games. 1 we lose 1 we win. the third one is close draw..... Ass wooping to Pak, SL is way too boring these days....And less said about Bango test matches is better...

Not too long, with the current attack. Mishra & Sharma's final day wickets may have saved their careers....for now, but we need to find two seamers to help Zaheer in SL & SA. Sreesanth if fit will be one. The other, or his absence, will determine our fate. Bhajji, unfortunately, will have a shocking series except at Galle. In SA and Australia, he is a mere passenger and India might as well go with the local paanwallah.
