Can Bangladesh stretch England at home?

The upcoming series in Bangladesh between the two sides might present more than one occasion where England might be stretched. Here me out : 1. England's bowling attack's experience in the subcontinent is minimal. Conditions in Bangladesh don't typically favor the traditional swing bowling which is England's strength. Swann will be a key player, but Bangladesh batsmen are not too bad against spin. Moreover, even Swann has hardly bowled in the subcontinent where even some very good spinners find time to get the right bowling areas. 2. Tamim Iqbal might be a bit of a cowlasher along with a fair few of them in the line up, but if he or some other top order batsman gets into the kind of patch where the ball starts coming off the bat for a couple of sessions, a solid lower middle order in Shakib, Rahim, and Mahmudullah might propel them to a good score. They managed to get 400+ in alien conditions in New Zealand and a similar score at home could prove very useful. 3. England have improved against spin, but are still vulnerable. In the absence of Strauss they'll miss out one of their best batsman and Pietersen has been struggling. Trott is very new and Bell is well Bell. A turning track which can bring in the Bangladesh spinners into the game early enough can put serious pressure on England's batting line up. A new captain in Cook, the drudgery and complacency of playing in Bangladesh, and some recent performances from Bangladesh which have been above their abysmal par and who knows!

Probably will test england, I dont think england will bat too well, KP is a sitting duck against left arm spin and is out of form anyway, Collingwood's nudge to the leg side is bound to fail eventually and Prior cant really play on slow pitches. Hopefully Carberry gets to play because he deserves a chance to replace Trott when the English summer starts, need to get rid of some of these South Africans. Englands bowling in Asia is pretty average too if the ball doesnt swing.

There are more and more of them queing up. Kieswetter is next in line now. Soon, there will come a time when the entire line up will be filled up with Saffies.

Yeh Kieswetter is a joke, could take over from Mark Boucher in a few years but decides he wants to play for England even though being born and bred in SA, at least Prior and Strauss lived here from an early age.

i wil go out on a limb and say Yes.I think on a patta wicket the bangladeshi batsmen can play the england pacers quite well.Sakib will have a very good series against them.we might see a draw in one of the tests.

Do you really think BD plays for that :hysterical: All England has to do is say few words to Tamim, Shakeb they will get their knicker twisted and go for shots. If they are lucky they will get a few. Otherwises will hold out somewhere. Their team is quiet immature to handle these things.

Key ingredients to succeed in test match cricket are cricketing skills' date=' temperement and captaincy ... BD sadly lack in all departments ... it will be highly unlikely they will mount a serious challenge to battle hardened England team that plays tons of test match cricket.[/quote'] :dito:

The outcome on this series for bangla depends on Shakib al hasan if he can deliver some outstanding all round performance BD can win or draw a test otherwise they will lose

I sort of agree with VVVs,some of the bangladeshi players dont have the temperment to play test cricket but they are improving and i would like for them to keep improving as long as they have test status .

In Jimmy Anderson, England have one of the best seamer in the world currently. He swings well and I believe unlike our Indian seamers, he would be very threatening to Bangaldeshi players. England would dominate with Keven Peterson finally finding some form and annihilating the bangla bowlers.

except that Anderson is not going to be playing Bangladesh. he is taking a break.

Bangladesh are perennial underdogs. That works for them. They can play stupid shots and get away. If it comes off it is good. If not you can always blame the inexperience and get away. That is something top teams cannot afford to do. They will have few moments as usual. As usual they will lose in the end. I am not even going to complement on their little "moral victories". That doesn't cut it. You have to actually win or atleast draw.. or atleast try to draw matches. They could have easily played out for a draw in New zealand. It was absolutely a belter of a pitch. No turn. No bounce. You could defend the bowlers all day. What did they do? They just went on a suicide mission and imploded.

Didn't know that. It's good in a way for him. Still England heavy favorites to dominate Bangladesh. English batting is too good in front of bangladeshi bowling.

BD cannot stretch anyone until and unless they realize that Mohammad Ashraful is crap and needs to be gotten rid of. They should play Mahmudullah at number 5 and Shakib should bat at number 4. Give some other batsman a chance and drop Ashraful for god's sake!
