sreej Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Lol... has he forgotten that SA lost a test to WEST INDIES just 2 years ago at home.
King Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Doesn't matter what people say all Indians should do is point them at the rankings table and grin :winky:
acharya Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 yes india is no 1 -who cares about anything else
goose Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 The viewpoint expressed in these articles has less to do with India's credentials on the cricket field and more to do with a fear of the truth being drowned out by one billions jumping up down with unbridled joy at their team attaining the No.1 ranking.
dial_100 Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Doesn't matter what people say all Indians should do is point them at the rankings table and grin :winky: Right on. You dont get to TOP w/o beating all the major teams in 3 years time. We are comfortably ahead of Aussies by 8 point and SA by 4 points...That means we were better in 4 test matches against our opposition compared to SA and 6 test compared to Aus... Again these are estimated difference to give us that kind of lead. All these stupid people all of sudden going all over because of 1 test match... Our team came back strong in the next test. And chockers couldn't bat on the first day pitch which was strong batting pitch all the way. It was evident in 2 100s in their first innings. Rest just got out to very goodl bowling... B->B-> I am enjoying our #1 position as people getting really J.:yay:
Vikas Bhatt Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 We are a good test side but not world champions till we beat SL, Aus and SA in their backyards. Simple.
The Outsider Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 We are a good test side but not world champions till we beat SL' date=' Aus and SA in their backyards. Simple.[/quote'] Australia did not beat Sri Lanka and India in their backyards till 2004 and immediately lost to England the following year in England's backyard. Heck they could not even defeat New Zealand and India at their home once each. I suppose Australia were a good test side, but world champions only for a few months? :hmmm:
Three'sACrowd Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 All this debate... when I want to see if a player is out, or has scored a century I look up the scoreboard. It doesn't matter how many times he was unfairly not given out before he scored a 100. It doesn't matter if he played exquisite strokes before being Bucknored at 5. And when I want to see which team is # 1 in Tests, I look at the ICC rankings for Tests. End of.
Bradman99 Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I'm an Aussie and I agree that India are the current best test side in the world. Just waiting for them to take on the almighty Austalians though :--D

royals87 Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Would have to agree, i am an aussie and i enjoy watching us take on india purely becuase it is great competition. Cant wait for the next series in Aus
putrevus Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Dale Steyn mentioned after his magnificent spell in Nagpur that high pace was always a threat to batsmen and there was no need to change his approach simply because the pitches were slower and the bounce lower. "A ball at 145km/h, whether it's bowled in Joburg or Nagpur, is still coming to the batsman at 145km/h through the air. Well what happened for that pace in eden gardens where did it disappear, SA won in nagpur because of injuries to Indian batsmen in nagpur if both dravid and Laxman were playing match would have ended in draw there. The ball change and injuries helped SA a lot there. This idiot is praising SA as if they were narrowly beaten by India in Kolkatta, they were thrashed on batting wicket by innings and still this moron is ranting on how well SA played.
Roshanrocks Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 The only reason SOuth AFRICA:winky: won the first test was because DRAVID n LAXMAN did not play....
diegovegaz Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 our batting is our strong, worthy of number one the bowling and feilding lets us down, and being good only in one department, is not good enough, even though it has worked for us
Karan114 Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 the bowling and feilding lets us down' date=' and being good only in one department, is not good enough, even though it has worked for us[/quote'] Well this thread is about Test cricket, and our catching is good enough in that form of the game, we don't have any super fielders but our slip cordon is fairly reliable. Ground fielding is not as crucial as it is in limited overs cricket. Zaheer and Harbhajan are ranked sixth and seventh in the world respectively so our bowling is not as bad as you claim it is, either.
