You think so? I can already see 10 different threads on how selfish Dhoni deliberately denied batting opportunity for youngsters.
I kinda expected this from Rohit. He did that in NZ too. Once he came in everyone stalled. Rohit should have been forced to play in a situation where he has to go after bowling like in the IPL. Probably he should bat at 6. He is not a finished article when it comes to build a partnership with desired specifications in one dayers Kohli is better in that. He and Dhoni did against Bangladesh. He and Gauti did against SL.With Rohit it didn't happen. Both were stuck.

thats how totals are chased , we lost cos of wickets not really rrr ....its not impossible to score 9-10 rpo in last 20 overs with 7-8 wickets and a PP in hand .which was the whole idea , dint work though ! we lost only by 90 runs , still 6 overs spare .

20 overs 200 runs is difficult even in T20. So far only once it has been achieved. India lost only by 90 runs because others made a collective fist of it. They all took gamble.

What has Kohli got to prove that he would start playing selfish. He hadly batted in this series before this game, and the last time he batted in a proper run, he smashed pair of centuries. He is a permanent fixture of our side, He doesn't have to play in any selfish manner. Spectre, YOUR LOVE FOR RAINA IS FINE, BUT YOUR HATE FOR KOHLI is just pathetic.
Tics for some reason or the other he was not his usual self..I mean we always fancied Virat as a busy player..when the situation demands, he's quite ready to cut lose irrespective of the outcome (was criticized by many here for the same)...but today that was not the case! Blame it on his partner at the other end, Rohit I say.

The way both built their partnership' date=' it was quite evident that they were not keen about the result of the match! Gave the impression that target is too much to chase down and we are not going to win this match :([/quote'] Exactly my impression. people defending Rohit's attitude today need to grow up. these guys were playing in PP overs for heaven sake! None of the SA bowlers were threatening. They could ahve atleast gone at run a ball. RR shouldn't ahve gone up to 9 with 30 overs to spare!!

That was my impression as well. As soon as Rohit left, Kohli hit a six :winky:

Rohit should understand its no use looking pretty while hitting every damn ball straight to the fielder. And the the way he walks around the crease..you would think he is dominating the bowlers like Viv Richards!

total of 365 is difficult too & only once a score higher than that has been chased , by keeping wickets we would have given our self an outside chance thats it . for me Rohit got out at the wrong time , which probably deserves criticism ..apart from that there was no issue with the innings . I think they we targeting to be around 180-190 by the 32-33 , without losing a wicket before going after the bowling . also I doubt two youngsters in the middle would just decide to play slowly on their own , cricket is not played like that any more . The strategy was most likely instructed Dhoni & the coach !!

No point over analyzing 'dead rubber', its called dead for a reason. btw i wonder what the overall reaction would be if the batsmen were keen on chasing down 365 and went for big hits from the start; a 140 all out would have been criticized even further.

Not doubting they were following instructions but they were hardly trying to consolidate. It was plain for all to see the way Rohit kept palying straight to the fielders repeatedly. It was only afterthe spinners came on that the singles started coming..when prolly they should have started attacking.

This has got nothing to do with Raina I like Kohli and Rohit as well as two good young stars, but today's innings was not an excuse. They never looked at the target at all, playing at their own damn pace and your love for Kohli makes u overlook this very easily, aint it :giggle: Had it been someone else, you would have come out with a double barrel gun

Whats up with you calling people fanatic and in love with kohli and rohit? We are just stating that you are over reacting. But you are acting like a fool now. Calling players selfish and not playing for winning a match is equal to match fixing do you understand that? And same can be said about you had it been Raina you wouldnt have made this thread.

u are a moron to compare this with matchfixing. Do you even know what is match fixing. Yes, they were selfish in not going for the target, rather playing at their own pace and pushed the RRR to almost a gone state, even by mid innings all in all, the match was royally screwed. all fair in a dead rubber aint it

Dumbass thats what i am saying. You are calling them selfish, not going for a win thats all come under match fixing. Guys like you shouldnt be anywhere near these cricket forums. You dont understand simple things. Ask Kamran Akmal and Rana. Who were selfish and are now under match fixing scanner. They underperformed = match fixing. Got it?

Spectre, if you cannot take part in the discussion in a civilized manner (without name calling or abusing fellow posters) then your posts/thread are not welcome here. This applies to everyone on ICF.

What criticism? You are calling them selfish. That doesnt come under criticism. If you have proofs that they are selfish then post them otherwise GTFO here. And learn to appreciate other teams also. South Africa played better and won. And its not all about one team always.
