coffee_rules Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 http://www.ibosnetwork.com/newsmanager/templates/template1.aspx?a=22078&z=4 My Name Is Khan continued its 65-70% slide consistent with big budget rejected fares. The film is playing on select shows in multiplexes and collected around 4 crores in its 3rd week. In comparision the recent 3 Idiots had collected 28 crores in week 3, seven times as much. MNIK's collections even in America have crashed and are ending at just around half of 3I. In middle east, as expected it has done better at $1.9 mil reportedly from UAE but mideast and uk ethnic segment collections are not making up for losing performance in India for the 100 crore distribution cost Fox fare which needed 250 crores gross revenues for distributors. Overall FLOP. While a segment of media has been carping about MNIK's supposed huge worldwide collections, we'll put this in perspective for our viewers today. Avatar the international epic American bonanza, which has interestingly a Hindi/Sanskrit film title is not just a bigger worldwide grosser than MNIK, the American film has beaten My Name is Khan in India itself. Avatar has grossed Rs 115 crores in India which is much higher in India than the Shah Rukh Khan starrer. Moving internationally, MNIK outside of India has grossed perhaps Rs. 50-55 crores till a few days ago (with a $3.7 million reported gross in USA). Except Avatar's gross outside of India stands at over mindboggling RS. 11,000 Crores. Which means the American film is ahead of the Karan Johar-Khan film by roughly, well, Rs. 11,000 crores. ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER.
Watson87 Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 poor Shahrukh:(( but he has Karan by his side holding hands and giving him sympathy Karan+Shahrukh forever lol
gaurav92 Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Had to be a flop with no proper story line and no proper originality in acting :D
DomainK Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I am going to watch the flop film tomorrow. I watched a flop yesterday as well (atithi).
mhr123 Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I am not sure if we shud rate movies on the basis of there earnings....Even though i have still not seen MNIK.
Pakistan-India Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 its an excellent movie but some people will say its a flop just because its sharukh khan. the king of bollywood
achilles Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Interesting take. so word of mouth has paavar No. Only Sharad has Paavar :two_thumbs_up:
ViruRulez Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Not surprised. Crappy film from one of the crappiest and overrated actor in Bollywood flopped. SRK was dreaming of competing with Aamir and he has been laid to ruins. Akki's houseful is coming soon and hopefully it also performs better than MNIK. Hope that SRK is last this year and his boring no.1 talk ends once and for all .. let him rot even behind Salman and AB in the box office.
ViruRulez Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I am not sure if we shud rate movies on the basis of there earnings....Even though i have still not seen MNIK. I agree that we cannot rate all movies by earnings. But a crap and publicity hungry actor like SRK has to be judged by earnings at least. All his movies are worthless and crap and frankly speaking none of them should be even hits ideally. Aamir never promoted his films before Ghajini and he still gave blockbusters. And once he started promoting his films, he became the KING or I would EMPEROR of Bollywood by a long long way. :yay: Leave apart his own films, even films produced or directed by Aamir are becoming super hits and blockbusters. One example is Janu Tu Ya Jaane Na which he just produced and just hired a few new and non-established actors yet it became a huge hit. Similarly he directed TZP and it was another super hit. He is producing and releasing three films this year and there are already good reviews about Peepli Live which is a small budget film. I can nearly assure you it will again be a hit or a super hit. He has got the Midas touch and anything he touches becomes hit. :eyedance:
CSK Fan Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 If we compare hit and flo by the standard of Avatar and 3 idiots 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999% of movies in history have been flops
ViruRulez Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 If we compare hit and flo by the standard of Avatar and 3 idiots 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999% of movies in history have been flops I agree but MNIK was bagged by Fox Studios for 100 crores and it could hardly make half that amount of money. So, it is a flop because it wont recover anywhere near the break even costs for Fox. SRK and KJ might not be at a loss however because they must have already got 100 crores for the rights.
King Tendulkar Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 its an excellent movie but some people will say its a flop just because its sharukh khan. the king of bollywood Wrong Aamir Khan is the King of Bollywood
