Really does it make all that much of a difference? Pakistan were losing before and with all these bans etc they'll still keep on losing. And really the entire cricketing world doesn't really give a **** about some backward cricket board like the PCB and a bunch of backward, cheating thugs like Afridi, Malik, Asif etc. The real news here is if some one other than Pakistan fans etc gave a damn but as this is the usual way of operating by the PCB, ban first then recall only a few months later, no one really believes them anyway.

Bans have made Pakistan a 'laughing stock' - Akram

Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram has slammed the PCB's decision to ban four of its players , saying it had made Pakistan cricket a "laughing stock in the world", and recommended heavy fines instead. Akram was part of the inquiry committee that investigated Pakistan's disastrous tour of Australia, whose findings led to the PCB's decision, but he did not attend any of the meetings due to personal reasons. "These penalties have made Pakistan cricket a laughing stock in the world," Akram told AFP. "You don't ban players for such problems. Had I attended any meeting or given recommendations I would have suggested fines, but not bans." The Pakistan board banned Younis Khan and Mohammad Yousuf from playing for Pakistan in any format for an indefinite period, while handing out one-year bans to Shoaib Malik and Rana Naved-ul-Hasan. Shahid Afridi and the Akmal brothers were fined Rs2-3 million [$24,000-35,000] for various misdemeanours and put on six-month probations. Akram said Younis and Yousuf were valuable to the team in both Tests and ODIs and their unavailability for selection would damage the 2011 World Cup campaign. "What I suggest to PCB is to stick with heavy fines, but don't implement the bans because we still need Yousuf and Younis in Tests and one-day cricket. With the World Cup in 2011 so close, this decision will hurt our team badly." The bans were handed down by an inquiry committee comprising former players Wasim Bari, Zakir Khan and Yawar Saeed, besides Wazir Ali Khoja, a member of the PCB governing council, and Taffazul Rizvi, the board's legal advisor. The committee looked into reports from former coach Intikhab Alam, manager Abdul Raqeeb and newly appointed coach Waqar Younis, who was the bowling consultant during the Australia tour. Akram, however, said that this was not how disciplinary problems should be resolved and that it was the duty of the team management to deal with them. "Pakistan cricket is in turmoil," Akram said. "We are anyway not playing [international] cricket [at home] for security reasons and this will further embarrass our players. No board in the world deprives cricketers of their livelihood. If there were discipline problems, it was the duty of the captain Yousuf, coach Intikhab Alam and manager Abdul Raqeeb to deal with them. "I have been hearing since last year that Malik has been a disruptive influence. If that is so, why was he kept in the team? Pakistan has already been weakened by various problems and this will further hit it badly. We can't even find 11 good players because of lack of talent in the country."

:haha: That's true, I guess. But I don't think anything in the cricketing universe could top Afridi's interview with the Aussi journalist when he said that he was smelling the ball. Upon which the journo replied "Smelling the ball with your teeth?" Afridi: "Yes, sometime you do, . . . don't ask negative questions!" I don't know which is funnier. The fact that Afridi was giving an interview to millions where he somehow tried to convince the world that he could smell the ball with his teeth? Or A guy who has just blatantly cheated, twice, his way through a cricket match, representing his country, is chastising some one else about being negative!! I guess in a way, we were lucky that Afridi wasn't playing at home in Pakistan where instead of using his teeth he could have pulled out an AK-47!

I don't mind if people are laughing or not. I am thankful to God that: 1. We are really getting rid of the so-called Senior players Mafia, which caused a lot of problems in the dressing room and was one of the major cause of under performing Pakistani Team. 2. We have few problems, but at same time there are few positives too coming out of this. Firstly, due to Seniors Mafia, the youngers were not getting enough Chances. We have good Talents in form of Young Players. 3. The T20 format suits best to Pakistan and even after absence of Malik and Rana, still we have good T20 team. 4. ODI team will also not be effected too much (Malik and Rana will although be back till ODI WC 2011, but I think it would be difficult for them to make to the squad as their replacements are also good) 5. We will be effected worse in the TESTs only. Afridi Vs Yuvraj I am (was) not a Fan of Afridi. But let me tell my Opinion honestly on this Issue. 1. Afridi strength lies in T20 format, and to some extent in ODIs. But T20 format is relatively very new Format and it is hardly played enough. I am sure more and more T20 Games means Afridi will be getting more and more Man of Match Awards at brisk speed. I fee with his All Rounder Capabilities he is better than Yuvraj in this Format. 2. Another thing in my Opinion is this that Afridi has become a better Bowler lately. Also his batting has become some what sensible lately. He is giving better Performances recently as compared to the past. As compared to Afridi, it seems to me that Yuvraj is going downwards to little extent. 3. Any how, I feel it is not good to compare 2 players. Both players are good for Cricket and both have that Talent which is not seen in any other player in the World.
