achilles
what is silent bidding? Well, IPL has a cap on player bids. For eg, if the highest a player can be bid for is $1,000,000 and there is a tie among franchises at this point, the cap won't be raised. Instead, the franchises will have to secretly bid an amount which would be outbidding the other teams' amounts. The catch is that the cap stays and that is all the player will get. The rest of the money, used to outbid your opponent, say another $1,500,000 will goto the IPL's coffers. Which means, IPL makes money and the franchise gets the player for (in this case $1,000,000) the amount where there was a bidding-tie. Also, if 2 teams are tied at $500,000 for a player despite the cap being $1,000,000 and no team wants to bid more than $500,000, there will be a silent bid. Kya dimaag ladaya hai, Lalit bhai. Tame great cho :adore: :secret::orderorder: :haha: agree with all but last.94 matches:omg::omg: too much Yeah. Maybe he should completely gatecrash England's domestic fixtures :hehe: :giggle: How much do the teams pay the 6 players they keep? Thats between them and the players. Mutual deals. In the auction itself will be a boost for DC where they can pick some decent domestic players along with fringe internationals.
Guest Hiten.
What if MI retains SRT, ZAK, Dhawan, Nayar, Bhajji + 1 more and then in return get MSD, UV, Sehwag, Gauti, Rohit by outbidding everyone. OMFG! :woot:

IKnowU
Thats sad how players have to be auctioned. I would much prefer leaving it upto the teams to trade and the certain percentage goes to Modi instead. Capitalism needs to created instead of a communisn headed by Modi. The franchises should speak out and ***** about it so that Modi listens.
mastana
:hmmm: If they are going to auction all the players then who will play for them in the Champions League. Same players or the new players? Oh forgot to add one thing. Modi is a ch****. Changing teams like that wont help IPL.
Zap_Brannigan
Arent people forgetting the players here. Dhoni, who got the highest in the 1st auction went for 1.5 million. The next year, Flintoff and KP beat that with 1.55 million. This year MI reportedly wasted 2.75 million on Pollard. Certain players have grown in stature in the last 3 years. How is IPL going to address this? Will Dhoni be happy with just 1.5 million when he is the most sought after player and could get 3 million or more if he is auctioned off? What about the likes of Hayden, whom CSK would love to hold on to for just 375,000 when he is one of the most proficient run scorer with no international commitments to boot.
