But i couldn't convince myself to watch 3 hour movie again that I had seen 12 years ago which wasn't even shot in 3D

How did it manage to get 60 crore in 1st week end ? 1) if u watch it on same camrip or even say some downloaded gud print at home, u will never like it and probably end up cursing yourself for wasting your time 2) go to some theatre with couple of or more of your buddies, i am damn sure u will end up having a hearty laugh through out the movie i went with little expectation, yes there was no story, yes its non sense but still i ended up laughing for most part of the movie and thought it was worth my time

Hero was shown age 38 while he himself was a kid when Dinanath died. So they must not have a huge age difference which was shown later. There is no explanation as to how Vijay became a gangster in the first film. Read this. He know the craft of screen writing. He knows that cinema is an audio-visual medium of emotional connect with audiences. He knows star power enhances the appeal of a commercial entertainer but that the narrative is always in an auteur's voice and therefore, it must ring with conviction for that is what makes or breaks the movie. He knows the current, frenzied mood of society. And best of all, he told us a story that he knew we knew, in a way that we hadn't seen before. In the original, a boy jump cuts to a 38 year old. What happened in the intervening years? How did a 5 or 8 year old become a powerful don? And if he were all that powerful, why did he wait for 30 years to take revenge? If his father died 30 years ago, how could his younger sister have been born 10 years after their father's death? Let's face it people, the original script was so full of holes, it sank. Mr Yash Johar, Mr Mukul Anand and Mr Bachchan may have invested their heart and soul in an emotional experience but - Karan Malhotra made a motion picture.

How did he become a "director" god knows...anything goes in Bollywood I guess if you have the right contacts, right sifarish, money....didn't this guy once got in a fight with Ashutosh Gowariker and challenged him openly? Saajid is probably not even intellectually competent to challenge anyone else
