True. Serpico as well. Guy's so ****ing underrated/
Are you serious...If anything the guy is over-rated....Great Actor but, Deniro is more versatile and has done more range of roles than Pacino....He does ham it up a lot more at times, which makes me feel he is over-rated.Doesn't mean I am writing him off but just saying

I loved Al Pacino in the little known movies Chinese Coffee and You don't know Jack. Angels in America was good too. :nice:

Throw in Tony Montano .. He didn't pick the right and smart choices like De niro. Doesn't make him any less of an actor. Serpico what a performance. Dog Day Afternoon single-handedly carried the movie. I love De niro as well. But i always have a special place for this guy.

That guy acted in another movie "Naduvula konjam pakkatha kanom" Based on a true story. A guy who suffers temporary memory loss two days before his marriage.Don't want to give away too much. Hilarious and very well made. I think they are making in Hindi as well.

Acting is unrelated to looks :headshake: The guy, Vijay Sethupathy, is the most sort after upcoming actor in Tamil industry right now. He is a real gem. One of the very few Indian actors who show little to no camera awareness when he acts. :hatsoff:

Drug/booze abuse derailed his career. In his biography, he says that during the Dog Day... Oscars, he was so drunk that he hoped and prayed that they don't give to him. For a man who jobbed as a gigolo in his early 20s to feed himself, he has come a long way. Respect! Another guy who lost almost his entire career to drug abuse is Micky Rourke. Till date, he is the only actor to have cracked the Actor's Studio audition in his very first attempt.

He took a 7 year break.. in the 80s.. What a handsome guy Al pacino was... The eyes :winky: He didn't age well. He deteriorated rapidly compared to De Niro who managed to keep himself fit. I have seen the movie Heat so many times just to see the scene where these two legends meet.

No offence bud but this is 100% pure bull crap ! Calling him over-rated is a crime. There are 3 books which I read and has stated few common actors in all 3 and one of them is Pacino. The Lee Stasberg notes and Intent to Live. You will get the idea why on earth is this guy so darn "perfect". Place these movies Godfather II, Scarface, Seprico & Dog Day Afternoon, Scent of a Women and Justice for All, place them on a table and give me one good reason on why De Niro is more versatile than he is? De Niro, as every knows, has his own style and you can't call a guy with his own unique style as versatile. There are 2 different actors, one who focuses on something specific and lets you know its him and the other whose got absolutely nothing and doesn't give you any chance to figure out who he is but makes you look deep into the character more. The former are De Niro, Brad Pitt, Clint Eastwood, Downey JR, Robin Williams etc and the latter are Al Pacino, Brando, DiCaprio, D.Hoffman, Paul Newman, D.Washington, J.Lemmon, C.Waltz etc. That's a comparison but not on who is good and who is not. The latter is more focused on putting a certain effort into the character more than the 'role' the character plays, i.e., for eg: T.Montana in Scarface was a Cuban rebel, a rough guy, someone who wants to be a rich man and no matter what he has got to do for that, that's the character and his role is executing those traits of that character and Al Pacino studies and executes those roles as no one else, there are very, very, very rare number of actors who can play that role of Montana as good and fluidly as he did. In the current era, the actor who executes his role splendidly is DiCaprio, studies his character and that goes for Waltz too though he is got more experience with this German plays. Deniro's a legend but Al Pacino is is always a step ahead of him when it comes to versatility and nailing a character.

@ Slick, Daniel Day-Lewis is miles ahead of the current crop. By the time he finishes his career, he could very well become the greatest actor ever lived.
