hhunaeh Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Finally watched the animated movie, The Dark Knight Returns - 11/10. It's not just a superhero movie/comic. He turns Batman into a myth, much much more than a superhero and a much bigger hero in not just in costumed character's but in the entire visual media. The story, screenplay, character development, name any concept of writing and movie making, this excells everywhere. The batmobile is just out of the world. And you have batman riding a horse which just an awesomest thing that you can see. You can see a lot of elements in Nola's Batman movies. They pay homage to Batman the character's inspiration, Zorro, they actually show how Batman is a genius gambit, not just saying or self proclaiming "he is a genius" (take that Ironman :giggle:). It has the best showdown with his greatest foe, The Joker. And what follows it is even more unreal, and when he fights a ridiculously and hilariously outmatched guy and he beats him. :secret: "I want you to remember...my hand at your throat. I want you to remember...the one man who beat you." The movie has two parts. Did you watch both of them? If you did not, then watch the first part too.

Batman Begins is heavily inspired from this. Watch Dark Knight returns after watching all the other movies, including JL and other stand alone movies.

Sonix768 Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Psycho isn't a horror film, more like a psychological suspense flick I was initially wondered how a film that familiarized and inspired a whole new Horror sub-genre, "Slasher films" can not be termed as Horror film. But again, film is a subjective medium. Everyone perceives as they like it. If "Horror Film" means just only ghosts, gore, Jump-Scare scenes then Psycho is not a Horror film. And so are some of the most revered as the Greatest Horror films: The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1921), Nosferatu (1922), The Phantom of the Opera (1925), Dracula (1931), Frankenstein (1931), King Kong (1933), Bride of Frankenstein (1935), Peeping Tom (1960), What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962), Repulsion (1965), Don't Look Now (1973), Videodrome (1983) etc. But IMO "Horror Film" means much more than that. It's the film that unsettles; haunts; causes dread and panic; frightens; invokes fear, nightmare, vulnerability. From wiki "Horror is a film genre seeking to elicit a negative emotional reaction from viewers by playing on the audience's primal fears" So it is not necessary that only Ghost / Gory Images / Scary scenes should unsettle me and cause fear. It can very well be a innocent looking psychopathic guy who runs a quiet motel in the outskirts and suffers from personality disorder / schizophrenia and kills young women. Chilling background score and haunting Black-and-White cinematography can be bonus. So Psycho is most definitely a Horror film, TO ME. Here is my list of Top 50 Horror films. Its as if the review was written just for you (or fans like you) :D Whatever I've heard from people about Kick seems to be really, really bad.
