shouldnt india be C1 ?
they made this rule i think from 2007 world cup so fans can make travel arrangements in advance. Aussies have to lose both their games or they will be in group f with india

They should be since they won both games but ICC already decided the seeds of teams before the WC started. Just read the rules of the format & stop asking stupid questions.
stupid rules.... :finger:

:wall: :wall: yeh kaisa logic hai
group seedings are predetermined if SA win their next match they will be C1 even though they lost today, if they lose their next match also then india becomes C1. not my logic :winky:

The fans asked for this stupid rule. Remember how every body was crying in WC 2007 when 2 minnows made into super 8 stage. You fans are to be blamed not ICC

No Afghanistan becomes C1

People Pak will be A1 irrespective of today's result. The seedings are fixed. So there is no chance of them meeting us in the super 8. How nice would it be to knock them off in a must win game??

It surprising that many still haven't figured out how the teams advance! Ind and Pakistan wouldn't meet in round two, the best chance of them meeting is in the KO stage (i.e. if Pak makes it :P ) Below is how the grouping, along with seeding, work:

Group A Group B Group C Group D
Pakistan (1) Sri Lanka (2) South Africa (3) West Indies (4)
Bangladesh (8) New Zealand (7) India (6) England (5)
Australia (9) Zimbabwe (10) Afghanistan (11) Ireland (12)
Below is how the 2nd round groups are:
Group E Group F
A1: B1:
B2: A2:
C1: C2:
D2: D1:

So, if teams advance as expected then round two groups would be: Group E: Pak, NZ, SA and Eng Group F: SL, Aus, Ind and WI

inida would remain c2 if afghans win then they will be c1 , stop spreading false rumors

looks like top two teams in each group (based on pre-tourney) seedings automatically take A1/A2 or C1/C2. If a A3 or a C3 end up qualifying, they take the number of the team which didn't make it.
