I have a gut-feeling he isnt really comfortable enuf facing genuine quicks outside india. we will see what happens today. even though we shudnt judge based on a t20 match... atleast we will get a glimpse of his technique against quicks... i hope to be wrong.

how many chances has he had ? none so far i think he deserves a good look in before being discarded in the has been bin. and deifnately a failliure in t20 should not be the reason to get rid of him in other levels.

This is T20. Format demands going after the bowling. He definitely has role to play for Dhoni which is to try to put away length balls upfront irrespective of the result. In terms of technique against quick bowling he is far better than lot of the young prospects going around the world.

Did he not play in Aus and come out pretty well?
no,that was Virat(if u r alluding to Emerging players tournament)

no' date='that was Virat(if u r alluding to Emerging players tournament)[/quote'] me thinks he meant the test match where he score 40 odd and 30 odd ! but that wasa while ago. agree with vvs he should just punish the length balls provided he gets fed some. lets see fingers crossed.

That was in India. But he did face quickies albeit on Indian surfaces. But these days Aussie tracks are not really that quick. Even Bhajj, Kumble, RP were negotiating their bowlers with ease. We rarely occasionally run into fast and furious pitch. I think Chinnaswamy pitch was quicker than this Barbados pitch for couple of matches where even Vinay Kumar was getting lot of bounce.

One 100 for CSK and the boy gets selected. 1000+ runs in all formats in just 1 year and Manish Pandey doesn't get through. I smell blatant bias.
He made 78 too to win the man of the match. Vijay also averaged over 70 in the Ranji. He was with Indian team so he didn't play many matches. http://stats.cricinfo.com/ipl2010/engine/records/batting/most_runs_career.html?id=5319;type=tournament Vijay was the 5th highest run getter in the concluded IPL with a strike rate of 156. He was also the second highest six hitter behind Uthappa. He hit 26 sixes. Uthappa 27. Only guy who could have been a better choice than Vijay was Uthappa. But they say they just replaced an opener with another opener.

He is a bit arrogant:poink:
Yeah I noticed that too..but its not really a problem. The ONLY problem I have with Vijay is that he is such A TERRIBLE runner between wickets..guy can't judge if the single is on or not.

wow how ignorant have you checked the ranji record yes manish was the top run getter but not like vijay did badly he did just as well sugges tyou do your homework before pointing fingers. Kris srikanth maybe or maynot be biased i have no clue on that but he is "chairman of selectors" not the "chief dictator and lord of selectors for life" there are 4 others with equal vote i believe.

You sound as if your from South and I don't mind your take. But if it doesn't embarrass me to say that Team India was Team Mumbai for more than a decade, it really surprises me what makes you see beyond the obvious bias. And to show you the mirror... You make the point of 4 equal votes. So weren't they "equal" even when Mumbai players were getting preferred over their South compatriots? Coz if we go by your logic, there was absolutely nothing wrong with what the Selectors did when they continued to ignore the talented Southies and right now, Kris is doing nothing wrong by ignoring the Northies and saying "No questions about the players we selected", isn't it? So in conjunction with your conclusion, was it wrong for the South zone to be upset that Bumbaiyaa players were getting picked despite their boys being better players? Two wrongs don't make a right. As for the stats, there is JUST ONE No.1 and this year, it was Manish Pandey.... end of discussion.

Yes. That seems to be the only valid reason why he's in WI. My only grouse is that Manish played as an Opener too so he should've been considered coz being biased to a player because he plays for your state or in your IPL team is not reason enough to select him. Or maybe I am an Idealist.

Manish didn't really produce any show stopping performance in the IPL. He struggled to rotate the strike too. He just was not the same Pandey we saw in the previous edition of IPL. Uthappa completely overshadowed him. Even Kohli overshadowed him.

So maybe they could've pick Robin. We all know he can open. He did so with elan in our World T20 victory in South Africa :two_thumbs_up:
