But it's not like it was a fluke, he hit one pull shot after another all with great technique. I think he just needs to get the confidence playing at International T20. Rohit Sharma on the other hand played horribly in this match, was so lucky playing and missing like 10 balls, but good on him for pulling himself together when Smith came on.

And wasn't Watson lucky as well. :haha::hysterical:

IPL pitches are hardly the bench mark for handling shortballs(it just stood-up to be hit after pitching..lost its pace' date=' which's why Nannes and Steyn relaxed and bowled a yard slower).. [b']we need pitches like Barbados where batsmen had the ball whizzing past their face to see the real mettle. There are no such pitches these days. This one is an exception. Most of the tougher pitches are tougher because it assists swing and seam.

Again and again i repeat he didn't get out to short ball. He played too early against a ball that was pitched on a good length. That can very well happen on chepauk pitch against bowler like kulasekara. There is a big difference. Vijay's problem is not his technique. Just that he is new to this international T20 where he may or may not succeed.

he did not get out to short bal but was looking extremely nervous in his short stay.the way he play Nannes was not great at all. there was no conviction .he played a pull shot,but mistimed it n went where thee was no fielder.rest of the balls he was poking at it.

That is just a reaction you would expect from most batsmen that are new to the crease. Have you seen Punter for the first 15 to 20 minutes of his stay at the crease in Tests. Poking.. even Sachin, Dravid have done fair bit of poking through their career. He lasted total of 7 balls. Probably beaten couple of times. So it is very early to judge his ability against short ball. First sign of being weak against short ball is picking the wrong ball to pull consistently and henced end up edging over slips or keeper or straight up in the air.. Raina is the only guy who does that more often. Gauti is not a great player of hook but a good player of pull. He has other ways to over come it. Just that he is generally out of form bouncer or no bouncer.

i dont blame Vijay fully,Vijay n GG r same kind of openers.u need a Sehwag too.thats why i wanted Uthappa instead.Vijay is trying his best but not good enuf

I was reading an article about Phillip Hughes the other day in which it said he was being bombarded with short pitched balls at his body in the nets day after day. Our youngsters need to be doing the same thing otherwise recent debacles will be repeated time and again

Along with practicing w/ the bowling machine, some of them have to look in to developing their technique too
