saneindian Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 We somehow need to get our fitness sorted out. With this bowling and fielding unit we should kiss good bye to our WC chances. Only good thing is that just before the WC, we will have a very tough series in SA, so the players would be mentally prepared (but hopefully less exhausted). Dhoni will also need to get more aggression into his captaincy. Somehow the energy seems to be missing from his game and its getting reflected in his on field decisions. And hopefully the young team going to Zim will do well (especially Ashwin, Umesh), also some players in the India A sqaud (the likes of Dhawan, Pandey, Unadkat) will do well on that tour so that seniors like Yuvi, Zaheer, Bhajji and Gambhir stop taking their place in the place for granted.
Bradman99 Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I just hope we beat you on friday!!!! Still i agree Pakistan has to improove dramitacally in the field to compete in a 50 over world cup... Oh dont worry, I think you have a decent chance of beating Australia.
Roshanrocks Posted May 13, 2010 Author Posted May 13, 2010 Oh dont worry' date=' I think you have a decent chance of beating Australia.[/quote'] Lady luck seems to favour \pakistan more in T20 world cups, ----------------------------------------- i guess our indian team members have got a good break from cricket, except the ones selected for India and India A tours. This could be used to relax their tired bodies and become fresh before their next series. A re-think about their own form, strength and weknesses would do them no harm, maintaining fitness levels and strengthening their obvious weaknesses should be their goal. easier said than done of course
S.Bond Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 1)Drop Ravindra Jadeja and hand him a lifetime ban. (oh wait we are not pakistan haha) the boy needs some therapy 2) Hire a professional gym trainer for Yuvraj, Rohit, Raina and other unfit guys. 3) Drop Zaheer Khan and and Yousuf Pathan eventhough they are econimical they don't have wicket taking abilities for oneday cricket and play Ojha/ Mishra and Ishant Sharma who is light years ahead of Z. Khan (mr overrated sob). 4) Batting line up: Sehwag Gambhir Sachin Dhoni (wk) cap Raina Yuvi Rohit Sharma/ Robin Uthapa (finisher, both are way better than fluke Pathan) Bhajji Pragyan Ojha/ Amit Mishra Ashish Nehra / Vinay Kumar Ishant Sharma Spin is the key in our pitches also the slower bowlers will be hard to get runs off so I will chose Vinay Kumar over Nehra also Raina, Yuvi and Rohit can bowl 10 overs and I am sure they will do a much better job than ugly inbred Yousuf Pathan You are myabe light years aeahd of us to know this!!!!
Guest OriginalPrince Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 thats strange because i can remember india: - reaching the final of 2003 world cup played in SOUTH AFRICA - winning the 2002 natwest series in ENGLAND - winning the 2008 CB series in AUSTRALIA - winning the 2007 t20 world cup in SOUTH AFRICA i won't even talk about their away record in tests. Indian batsmen failings against the short ball has been completely blown OUT OF PROPORTION. yes, they aren't the best at playing horizontal bat shots but they aren't that bad either. the problem is that in t20, you can't afford to play yourself in - especially when chasing a RRR of 10 an over. That's why indian batsmen throw their wickets away to stupid shots against the short deliveries. In ODIs a guy like Gambhir or a Raina could just avoid the short balls and score off anything else. so yes, the short bal is a fantastic weapon to use against india in t20 -given that the team's strength is entirely their batting. but in other forms of the game, the short ball will not have a significant impact. if that was the case, india wouldn't have had all those successes away from home in the last decade. Indians are poor at playing the short ball. There is no two ways about it. If you don't play the short ball well you will almost never win in countries like SA or AUS. Just look at India's record in non-subcontinental conditions. One series victory in england and none against Aus or SA in the last 70 years (!!!!). If that is not a pathetic record I don't know what is. Indians should stop playing stupid IPL games and worry about their pathetic record abroad.
Deleted_User_1 Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 India winning WC 2011???? :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:
gaurav92 Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 India winning WC 2011???? :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: In God we trust :isalute: But i feel our bowlers will screw us :mad:
Precambrian Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Ensure we have Sachin in form and fitness. That'll half answer the question. A firing Sachin preps up everyone. Other than that, ensure we have fast bowlers who take wickets, even if a bit expensive. Ish and Sree plus Zak are a must in this regard. And spinners who can choke the run rate in the middle overs. Bhajji won't take wickets, but he'll be miserly. Improve our fielding. We can save atleast 20-30 precious runs by that alone. Also take catches. Select in form players over reputations. There is no point in selecting a player if he hasn't been in any sort of form for last 5-6 months. See how Jayasurya and Gibbs and Yuvraj cost their sides so much balance in this t20 world CUP. IPL won't be held before world CUP for sure, as it starts in Feb. IPL will have to be held in Nov, Dec, Jan which will be impossible as we'll be touring SA. If they do that, then it'll be a disaster, as it will be cold and fog in north India, raining in Chennai as well. Bonding camps are must, but emphasis must be on improving cricketing skills and player interaction, unlike last world CUP when Guru greg was conducting military exercises, trekking etc. Also regardless of names, fitness is a must for anyone. The last word in this matter should be the coach's only.

mastana Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Question : What would India have to do to become contenders for 50 over - 2011 world cup? Answer : Its simple just tell the players its IPL 4 with a new format. :dontknow:
Zelig Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 India, Australia, SL (they always do well in ICC tournaments) and England(no, I'm not counting them coz of their recent T20 success wonly) have all got a chance. My instincts say, India will play Oz in the semi-final and not in the final:hmmm:
CSK Fan Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 sri lanka and south africa are jokezzz india smashed both of them at home. no contest. england arent any better, india beat them 5-0. the only challenge comes from australia. they always play well in india. Sl have usually had the better of us in ICC tournaments
Precambrian Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 actually i think we need to do the reverse.spinners r our strength' date='so we need spinners who take wickets n pacers who choke n r good at death bowling[/quote'] I went by conventional thinking. It is anyway difficult to be defensive in first 15 overs. So our best chance of Slowing run rate is by taking wickets. When this happens this will put pressure on batsmen whom then we choke with spinners with defensive settings. Finally when the batsmen start taking risks, fast bowlers can deliver knock out punch.

Sachinism Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 To answer OP's question Maybe we should increase the IPL games to 128 next year
