Indians, however, gain nothing other than perhaps the new blood getting accustomed to the fierce competition. Your Vinay Kumars of the world don't find the big stage so daunting. Playing overseas is also an excellent way to focus on your cricket. Away from home, family, and friends, cricket is all you have to occupy your mind and body. That's one reason county cricket is seen as such a good idea for foreigners. For the Indians it's just another party.

Gambhir failed in IPL failed in WT20. Yuvraj failed in IPL failed in wT20. Raina succeeded in IPL succeeded in WT20. Dhoni was average in IPL Dhoni was average in WT20. Mahela clicked in IPL clicked in WT20. Jayasuriya was average in IPL average in WT20. So is Dilshan, So is ABDV. For T20 90% of the pitches you are going to get is flat track with few exceptions like Barbados, chinnaswamy stadium. For this format you need to have players who are showing good form. Horse for the courses. Period. Waste of time picking squad based on who is "undroppable" and who is not "undroppable". If it were upto me i would have dropped half the squad. Conventional selection is never going to work in T20.

mastermind_quad Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 simple .... foreign players play professionally in the league as well in their national team ...coz they grow upon the system which prepare them to be professional ... if they fail they will try hard to overcome that whether playing in IPL or for anywhere .....like Steyn in start of the IPL3 he was not good but after 2 games he put hard work and find what will b the way to bowl on our Indian pitches ...and the result everybody knows .... and same with KP ,in his statement he clearly mentioned when he didn't got the spot in playing XI in IPL3 he put really hard work to rectify that .... Guest OriginalPrince Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 I know one of the aussie players who plays for RR personally and he was saying that it was a bit of a laugh and nobody was taking it too seriously. obviously they were still trying to win but as long as they scored runs or took wickets they didn't care TOO much about the result. IPL is nothing but a bunch of individuals playing for themselves IMO. The difference is when these international players go back to their national sides their intensity picks up and they start performing as a team.

Is it? Would you have loved it if India were stripped out of their Test status in 2000 when a handful of players were given bans due to the match fixing scandal? What if teams like Australia and England vouched the ICC to strip us of our Test status, would you have accepted it meekly? I've always believed that one needs to walk in their shoes for a mile before passing judgments. It's easy for Indians/Pakistanis to say such things about each other since we are arch rivals , but when the shoe is on the other side it's then their real color shows up.
