Ram Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Of course they're going to 'retire' it, who wouldnt it? Its a smart marketing move. The people at the Oberhausen aquarium, where it is located, obviously know that give or take 2 or 3 more chances, its only a matter of time before it gets its pick wrong. They obviously couldnt believe their luck that an octopus miraculously got all of its picks right and became world famous. They obviously want to cash in on this new found fame. Who would risk spoiling the entire party by making the octopus make more predictions? Now, every one who goes to the town of Oberhausen in Germany will visit this aquarium to see this octopus, which will translate into 100 of 1000s of Euros worth of entry fees income. It'll be a great boost to the local tourism industry. If and when it dies, they'll probably build a statue for it as well. They'll keep cashing in on its 'legacy' for as long and as much as possible.
