any 'best of' team without agarkar is incomplete. i would take him over any other spinner save for kumble. he is the most complete all rounder india has had since kapil dev and is a terrific bowler who was unlucky to bowl on tracks that were too supportive of the batsmen. id pick him over bedi in a heartbeat, not so sure about harbhajan though.

I have always wondered why should an all time XI be picked at all? What's the point? They never will have played together anyways so how does it matter? Just beats logic and like usual human tendency is to look for more. Usually people tend to forget to live in the present and enjoy to the fullest what the current time offers.

My sentiments exactly. Each one will come up with a X1 and debate till the cows come home. It's all a ego massage to the players who get in. WTF cares if Srinath bowling with Mohd Nissar would have fared with Mankad and Parthasarthy Sharma?

Why do you want 2 allrounders in one team? One too many. You might get a fulll batsman or a fulll bowler instead of a halfling?

Really? Aw man, I love picking all time teams. That debate you speak of Coffee is the main point of the excercise....and then its the fascination of imagining how Sachin and Gavaskar might have batted together, or how good an attack of (say) 'Chandra, Kumble, Sri and Kapil' might have been... makes for good day dreaming. And better yet facing them off (in that great cricket match of day dreams) versus other all time teams. Lillee/McGrath vs Sehwag/Sunny. :woot:

I am trying to put together a list for a winning XI not a drawing one. Dravid and Gavaskar can only draw test matches:giggle:

I may remind if you have forgotten that test cricket is also played in eng, aus,sa and nz,these players along with sachin are as valuable as gold in those conditions
