observer1 Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 This is for Tests. ODIs don't matter Batsman- Virender Sehwag Bowler- Glenn McGrath Captain- Imran Khan Aaah, the fogey's choices.... I agree withyour choice of batsman and captain (IK's changes in batting order were so original and nearly always came off) but Malcolm Marshall (perhaps inspired by seeing the Marshall Law series, and listening to TMS on Short Wave) has to be better than Glenn McGrath
thongale Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 In no particular order, the ones I've seen, Richard Hadlee Malcolm Marshall Brian Lara Curtley Ambrose Muralitharan Sangakkara Tendulkar Kapil Dev Imran Khan Wasim Akram Waqar Younis Shane Warne Glenn McGrath Picky Ponting Marin Crowe Allan Border Allan Donald Shaun Pollock Vivian Richards
riwi999 Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Batsman: Viv Richards Bowler: - Fast: Malcolm Marshall - Spin: Rhymes with Swann but name's Warne Fielder: Jonty Rhodes Allrounder: Imran Khan Captain: Imran Khan
Steyn Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 One of Warne or Murali or Imran Khan is the greatest cricketer of my lifetime. Warne may be the greatest of them. Won three world cup! Greatest batsman: Lara Greatest Pacer: Ambrosh Greatest Fielder: Rhodes Greatest idiot: Afridi
VRV Singh Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Batsman - Sachin Tendulkar Bowler ( Fast ) - McGrath probably Bowler ( Spin) - Shane Warne Fielder - Jonty Rhodes Catcher - Rahul Dravid Captain - Steve Waugh
zen Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 For Tests, for 1970-1990 period based on watching highlights and some games where were playing at the end of their career in very late 80s-early 90s, along w/ hearsay) Batsman: Sir Gary Sobers or Sir Viv Richards or Gavaskar Bowler (fast): Marshall or Hadlee (many would say Lilliee too) Bowler (spin): One of the Indian greats: Parsanna or Chandra or Bedi Fielder: Kapil, Richards or Gus Logie Catcher: Solkar probably Captain: Imran Khan All-rounder: Botham probably, if you look at performances with the bat and the ball at the same time (in the same period) .... Some would say Imran but I am not sure if he delivered with the bat and ball at the same. Imran was first very good with the ball, then his bowling went a little down (after an injury I guess) then he developed as a batsman
Asim Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 One of Warne or Murali or Imran Khan is the greatest cricketer of my lifetime. Warne may be the greatest of them. Won three world cup!
