ravishingravi Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Batsman :- Brian Lara. Just marginally prefer him to Tendulkar. Just loved watchimg him in full flow Bowler ( Fast ):- Wasim Akram. I think he was genius and could be lethal in any conditions. Bowler ( Spin):- Shane Warne Fielder:- Jonty Rhodes Catcher:-Mark Waugh Captain:-Mark Taylor

ravishingravi Posted September 5, 2010 Author Posted September 5, 2010 Captain - ODI: Cronje You are entitled to your opinion, but I thought he was the most one dimensional captains at the time

zen Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 For Tests (from those I followed when they were playing at their peak) Batsman: Tendulkar Bowler (fast): Ambrose (w/ the other team needing 50 runs to win w/ 5 wkts in hand, I would probably turn to him to knock those 5 wkts off.) Bowler (spin): Warne Fielder: Rhodes Slip Catcher: Brian McMillian (SA all-rounder). From what I saw of him his big hands were like buckets that would take the catches in comfortably. I think he holds the highest percent of catches per test for SA Captain: Mark Taylor (liked his aggressive and positive captaincy. didn't worry about losing a game and thus usually went for a win)
The Dark Horse Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Batsman : Sachin Bowler (Fast) : Ambrose Bowler (Spin) : Murali Fielder : Rhodes Catcher : Sachin(havent seen him drop a catch) All rounder :Kallis keeper : dhoni best entertainer: Sehwag

zen Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 From the highlights that I have watched, along w/ hearsay,1970s-1980s was probably one of the best periods for cricket as it had lots of greats playing, i.e. 4 WI fast bowlers, 4 great all-rounders, Gary Sobers, Viv Richards, Gavaskar, Chappell, Martin Crowe, Lillee and Thomson from the top of my head. I guess, it would be tough to pick 1 player in most categories in this period.
