yoda Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 i was talking about your comment: "you didn't ask for scientific proof that oxygen is indeed good for you before you decided to inhale" thats pretty ****ing stupid. first of all, knowing that you need oxygen to live is a scientifically proven fact. you dont need to believe in it blindly because the reasoning and evidence exists for it, plus if u choose to believe otherwise u will probably kill yourself (bringing u closer to your 'god' ?). point is not whether oxygen is good for you, point is do you always demand proof before you accept anything? we accept somethings just the way they are, simply because no proof exists in the dimensions that we are used to. You either "believe" or you don't, but to act as a know it all when there are a gazillion unexplained things around you every day is what is truly stupid. how do you explain the existence of the complex being that we are? evolution? progressively from single cell being? how do you explain the existence of this beautiful planet we call earth? bing-bang? if you can believe that bing-bang and evolution can explain these two conclusively, then believing them as a creation of god isn't that far fetched.

The US constitution gives one freedom of religion. It also gives a person freedom of speech. When they both clash, we'll let the courts decide who is right and wrong. If ur too old, serve the veterans or something. Burning books is what fascists did best. This does bring to mind the cartoon controversy. I would be fully supportive of the cartoonist (on the internet, not in Saudi Arabia of course) but this seems much more insensitive than that. The German chancellor echoed similar stances on both issues by honoring the cartoonist as well as condemning the planned burning. Is that a double standard on part of some of us, since both can be deemed insensitive from an Islamic POV ?
