The white house works with prominent economists and individuals like Buffet and even puts forward the magical alternative which, according to Republicans solves all issues i.e. tax cuts.

Also, once in a while, listening to the people wont hurt Pres.Obama too... When the economy was screaming for attention, focusing all efforts on a bloated awful healthcare bill was not exactly smart... And just to clarify, Im not saying that the Republicans are the saviors... I am however a conservative and to me conservative principles make more sense. What Pelosi's congress is doing seems to be throwing money at the problem and

Would you reward that performance from Obama ? This is the principle logic behind the stimulus across the world: in any economy, there are three principle spenders that have the demand and keep the ball rolling, the private industries, the people and the govt. The first two are inter-related and to some extent one can hope to increase the first by means of tax benefits. The third one has to increase spending as the last resort, and the US govt was not the only one to do that. The effectiveness of the last stimulus is of course debatable. Health care reform was due big time; Bill Clinton put it just right, its now or never. Get the foot in the door, don't friggin let it close yet again. Yet again, the effectiveness will be gauged over the next few yrs.

I respect a lot of your posts in this forum Clarke, but i have to disagree here... The best way to get an economy moving is to put money in the hands of the ppl... Private consumption drives GDP way better than Govt spending does... As soon as the stimulus money ran out, look at the current GDP estimates... 3.5 initially, downgraded to 2.5 and now to 1.5. Also, the avenues where the stimulus money was wastefully spent made it even worse... Health care reform was due big time; Bill Clinton put it just right, its now or never. Passing a bloated bill is not the solution, in fact it multiplies the problem. Mandating health insurance so illegals can live off of it is not the solution. Two of her ex-campaign staffers have filed charges with the police, accusing her of embezzling campaign donations for her own personal expenses (that is a felony offence btw). In fact, the slew of charges against Barbie is now rushing like such a raging torrent, she actually canceled all of planned media interactions over the weekend (even Fox). :hysterical:
