zen Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Olympics and Asian Games ----> :two_thumbs_up: Commonwealth Games ----> CW is like celebrating British rule over the globe. Countries where the Queen is still the head of the state can but I don't know countries like Ind even participates in them.
ludhianvi Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Regarding the opening ceremony, I saw a sneak preview as well where they were doing some puppet show, among other things:D CW is like celebrating British rule over the globe. Countries where the Queen is still the head of the state can but I don't know countries like Ind even participates in them. hmmm, that's what I was thinking as well. From an athlete's point of view, it does give them a chance to compete against top athletes from around the world. Many of them would only have a chance in the Asian Games and the Olympics would be out of the question bar a few.
Sir john Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 good to see positive response towards games.:yay:

It is a point I made also the other day talking to sree_india I think it was.It is an absolute waste of money trying to glorify the colonial past.
panesarv Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 But at least we'll get improved facilities now; might benefit our athletes.
ViruRulez Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Thanks a lot tics. Enough of the negatives. Let us concentrate in making it a success. We can discuss about the corruption once all these ends. For now every Indian should concentrate on making it a success.

Not new pictures Tics, these have been on facebook for the last week odd.
ViruRulez Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Does anybody know how to extract full size images from facebook.. I see the positive CWG pics only on facebook and I want to use full size maybe 2000 pixels kind of pics for creating a new theme. Does anybody know how to download full size images of those pics from facebook.
Texy Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 1st step to make CWG a success is to clean up: 1: stop peeing/pooping on the sidewalk. Solution: Find a bathroom nearby/ bribe one of the building guards to let you use the bathroom/ stop drinking maaza, sprite & eating uncle chips, vada pav, samosa/wear a diaper like material in case you have to go..foreigners would be impressed and our streets would be clean. 2: stop riding the public transportation with sweat stains. Solution: take a shower 2-3 times a day/ if you can't find time or place to shower..find a nearby fountain and jump into it..always carry your own soap/ if your shirt still stinks..buy one of those fashion magazines and they usually have men's cologne sprayed on the ad pages...just tear one of those pages and rub it all over 3: stop cheating the foreigners. Solution: Do it the right way...if a foreigner or foreigner couple visits your store/shop/hut...don't quote inflated prices..1st talk to them, get to know them and let them get to know you...always carry around pics of your wife, dead mother in law, children..let the foreigners in on your financial situation and how you want to send your kids to good schools...if the foreigners are british...play them a small emotional scene from the movie(Rang de basanti, Lagaan aur Mangal Pandey- take ur pick) on your ph..and now offer your product for free and tell them how guests are always a form of bhagwaan. Trust me, they will pay you any price you quote 4. Stop farting in public places. Foreigners will be offended. Solution: If you feel like a fart is developing and about to come out...just hold on to it...don't put too much pressure or else something else will come out. Just wait till you get off the new metro trains, good looking luxury buses or nice taxis or any place where you think a foreigner might use to travel and wait till you board the local train. As soon as you board scan your nearest 10 ft to check if you see any hippie foreigners who decided to see the 'real india' and travel in local trains. When the coast is clear wait till the train starts moving and a breeze blows thru.....let one rip.... 5: Stop spitting & throwing trash on the streets. Solution: if you're about to spit and you haven't eaten all day just spit it straight up, keep your mouth open and let that bugger come back down straight in your mouth, take a big gulp and take it in..the enzymes in the spit will provide a portion of a nutritious meal to your body plus you won't risk a foreigner slipping on your spit. Solution # 2: if you're about to throw trash and a foreigner walks by....pretend to arrange it in an art form, gather some more trash from nearby...use the combination of your spit and sweat to form a sticky substance that you can use to stick the trash together into either a collage or a structure...the foreigner will be impressed, might even buy your trash art

I remember gutka and pan masala was banned in one of the last companies I worked due to the same reason of spitting and paan stains .. seriously something needs to be done about it .. and I never understand why Delhites still pee on the road etc. as there are public lavatories almost everywhere and you have to shell out only 50 paisas or a rupee or so that to the cleaner to use it (the lavatories are also very clean as the cleaner also keeps on cleaning it for more donations) .. chips and cold drink bottles are another nuisance and I agree with that too .. the Atithi Dewo ad is not completely incorrect to be frank.. very good observations
