P_F, The difference is Butt is blindly pulling up ECB and English players while he should be asking ICC all the questions. ECB never said the last game was rigged? it was a total knee jerk reaction after being pressured on being soft and useless admin. Didn't you see his reception at Lahore airport, come today, see what kind of reception he gets..it's pure and simple, he pulled out a frustrated response which doesn't help anything Also, if I understand this correctly - you said Pak won from jaws of defeat but according to butt, the brits lost on purpose..so help me Who WON?

You think any Pakistani supports Butt? We all hate him to core as he has ruined Pakistani cricket so many times due to his incompetence. The top most one was the "presidential level" security he provided to Sri Lankans. I and majority of Pakistanis are against Butt, it's only this time I feel that no matter how much nonsense he utters, I will take it as its achievement. Accusing English players without any proof is obviously ridiculous, but for once ICC and neutral cricket fans will understand what stupid allegation without any solid proof looks like. ICC before doing the investigation said certain periods of games were fixed as per some trashy newspaper. Why not first investigate, get solid proofs and then go after players. Last game was played in good spirit, and I am 101% sure that none of England players were involved in any fixing, neither Pakistan did the "what ever fixing" this time they are talking about, as it's just not possible unless both sides are involved.

Perhaps you didn't watch the last ODI. The way Pakistan won, you will hardly see any team snatching victory from the jaw of defeat, but no majority over here and ICC are satisfied that the game was "fixed." I mean for goodness sake use your damn freakin head for a second and be rational for once in your life when it comes to topics involving Pakistan.
Huh? Where did I say that the last ODI was cheating or fixed. Since you (or someone else with a similar username) are from Harvard, let me break down my take on the thing in a logical manner point wise, and from my reading of the board the vast majority shares it : 1. The Sun gave ICC some scoring patterns before the match. 2. The match happened without any intervention and the ICC saw that those scoring patterns were 'broadly replicated' in the match. 3. On the basis of this ICC launched an inquiry into the proceedings of the match. Please note, launched an inquiry, did not proclaim anyone guilty, did not suspend anyone. And if you ask me for an opinion on the facts that have come to surface so far, I would in fact say that it is unlikely that fixing took place. However I am not aware of the exact facts handed by the Sun to ICC, and maybe there is more to it for ICC to have launched an investigation. Neither are you aware of anything beyond what has been published in the media, mind you.
What else is Butt supposed to say? Pathetic accusation deserve a Royal Pathetic Response, and yes Butt has finally done one thing right by throwing stupid dirt on stupid accusation back. According to you guys Pakistan is "guilty until proven innocent" so I know its not easy for you guys to process logic.
Again, since you are from Harvard I will break things down logically point wise : 1. The accusation on the players was made by the Sun, a member of independent media, not the chief of the ECB. 2. If Butt has evidence that England players fixed matches, he should present it to the ICC, who would launch an inquiry if warranted. 3. Butt occupies an official position in world cricket and represents your country, the Sun does not represent jack officially. The only reason the ICC commented on the episode was because it was made public by the Sun, and they did not proclaim any guilt. 4. The 'pathetic' accusation was made by the Sun, so if it deserves a royal pathetic response it should be directed towards the Sun and not the English players or ICC. Just to make my point clearer, if Jang published a report that England cricketers have cheated, and the ECB chief said 'no no, our players are clean it's the Pakis who cheated' would it make any logical sense according to your 'pathetic accusation and response theory'? Clear enough?

Go to Greenland and see how many are hailing his actions.

The issue is that, we all read half the story minced with journos own opinion and that leaves us to speculate different things but ICC cannot be that irresponsible to give a statement like that Another point is that, within MATURE PCB and Pak circles, they seem to feel that BCCI is calling all the shots which instead makes a mockery of the whole thing. Then Mr. Butt is pressured to say something and he blames ECB who invited Pak to play there and then there is denial, I mean c'mon

Dude you are barking up the wrong tree. Explaining logic to Pakis is akin to banging your head against a brick wall or as the saying goes it's akin to "bhains ke aage been bajana" :)

This keeps getting funnier. Those in positions of authority in Pakistan have no idea how to handle a crisis. They only go on making stupid statements and nothing else.

could there be any truth in what butt is saying ? after all no matter how big the financial implications how could any captain defend continuing with the series

I wonder what will be legal consequences of the statements. Butt made the accusations as the chairman of the board and if he fails to produce any evidence to substantiate the outrageous accusations, that will leave ECB and other aggrieved parties in a position to drag Butt and PCB to a court of law. It will also leave ICC in a position to punish Butt and PCB as the governing body of the game.
