King Tendulkar Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 How would you rank the indian team in terms of importance to the team in Tests. As in if they are missing who would we most miss and least miss. Various factors here, performance, influence and replacement quality etc ertc 1. Tendulkar - How can you replace god itself 2. Sehwag - No one can replace his attcking starts 3. Z Khan - No other indian pacer fit to tie his shoe laces 4. Laxman - Very Very Special 5. Bhaji - 350 test wickets, no other spinner can be banked on. 6. Dravid - Not force of old but still no other player can be the wall at 3 7. Gambhir - Sehwags partner in crime 8. Dhoni - Glove work sloppy, batting can dissapopint but insipirational skipper 9. Ishant - Touch and go if should even be in team, arguably sree is better 10. Oijha - Back up spinner, Ashwin is competitior 11. Raina - So many young batters, so would be least missed, although big future
ZodiaC Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 1. Tendulkar 2. Sehwag 3. Lachu 4. Zaheer Khan 5. Dravid 6. Bhajji 7. Gambhir 8. Raina 9. Dhoni 10. Ishanth 11. Ojha
punjabi_khota Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Sehwag Zak SRT VVS Gambhir Dravid Bhajji Dhoni Ishant/Sree Raina Ojha
jukkha Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 its a pity Gambhir has gone down the pecking order after an awesome 2008 season. Lets hope he rekindles that form and we could be unstoppable. Also Dhoni need to get back up there! Don't seem to recall that he does so great against Aussies? :(
achilles Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 1. Tendulkar 2. Sehwag 3. Lachu 3. Zaheer Khan 4. Dravid 5. Bhajji 7. Gambhir 8. Raina 9. Dhoni 10. Ishanth 11. Ojha Numbering fail :hehe:. But great list. Thats my list too :two_thumbs_up:
cowboysfan Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 sehwag zak sachin gambhir vvs bhajji dravid raina ojha ishant dhoni ------- dhoni is easily replaceable if his wicket keeping doesn't improve.
Hindustani Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 The list is heavily influenced by today's match :D but ya, most of them looks to be correct, it is shame Dhoni is not playing a bigger role in Indian wins
coffee_rules Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 A-list: Tendulkar, Sehwag, Zaheer, and Laxman B-list: Dravid, Dhoni, Gambhir and Bhajji C-list: Ishant, Raina, and Ojha (would have prefereed Mishy over Ojha who won us the 2008 series against Oz)

AFAIK, even Dhoni may edge out Bhajji to go higher in importance ranking. This is like saying Yuvraj above Gambhir? :D Is this overall ranking or just current Test@Mohali ranking?
fineleg Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 A-list: Tendulkar, Sehwag, Zaheer, and Laxman B-list: Dravid, Dhoni, Gambhir and Bhajji C-list: Ishant, Raina, and Ojha (would have prefereed Mishy over Ojha who won us the 2008 series against Oz) In current form, this is a good categorization. When Dravid is at full form, he will undoubtedly be in the A-list. All time Indian Test XI A-player list will have to include Dravid-the-wally for #3
ZodiaC Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Numbering fail :hehe:. But great list. Thats my list too :two_thumbs_up: :--D
jusarrived Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 not on current form Dravid (soon VVS to replace if his poor form continues ) VVS Shewag Tendulkar Zaheer Dhoni Raina Ishant Ojha Harbajan

Also Dhoni need to get back up there! Don't seem to recall that he does so great against Aussies? :( Just Check Dhoni's average against Aussies. He played crucial innings last time around in Nagpur. Also in perth he put some useful run if I can recall.
yoda Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 If against the Aussies, VVS goes on top automatically.
spectre Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Sehwag Zaheer Sachin VVS Dravid Gambhir Dhoni Ohja / Mishara / ??? Raina Rest fill the numbers, including the dartchucker
jusarrived Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Ok is mssed GG , I would put him above Raina atm
