patriot Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 http://www.cricinfo.com/ci/content/video_audio/479671.html I think it is an honest appraisal of the new generation. Does not apply to our l current egends who have eked out the longest of careers.
Andy Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 He is being honest here. Thats fact. No way of denying. But our Past Legends were not Lazy. Infact no one can be a Legend if he is Lazy.
Precambrian Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 he is commenting on young players he has seen in IPL... and fair enough... Lazyraj himself commented the youbgsters are lazy...
Guest Gunner Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 "HB: You have seen a lot of young Indian players now, and you can look at it from a very non-sentimental perspective. You know how we Indians are, we are very sentimental, melodramatic, and we put emotions before reason. You look at it from the outside. What did you make of the young Indian talent that you have seen? AS: There is plenty of it there, but 90% of your Indian players are lazy. You look at them as physical specimens and you think, terrific talent, but not fit enough, not strong enough, and that is just laziness. Everyone else can get themselves right. HB: Is it you and your upbringing saying that, because you have always been this tough, physical specimen as you said, or is that a general norm? AS: No, because I have played with some of these kids and it frustrates you. When they get tired, they go, "Aah, I'm tired." It's just laziness. It's probably a cultural thing as well, like the way the Indians train. They like to train for a long time, just take their time, and just do it. They are not very physical people, they are not aggressive people. They are not physical people… " This was exactly what he said. I think he is fairly correct that Indians are not very physical people.
punjabi_khota Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 But atleast they are not drunkards :dontknow:
vvvslaxman Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 He expects Ravindra jadeja to have six pack. Well.. it is never going to happen.
Guest Gunner Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 OK, instead of y'all taking the piss out of symonds, can you name a few young Indian players who can be classified as fit, agile and strong. Please don't name RSD, SRT etc since he is clearly not talking about them.
Andy Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Who left his cage open :headshake: :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:
yoda Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 OK' date=' instead of y'all taking the piss out of symonds, can you name a few young Indian players who can be classified as fit, agile and strong. vvvslaxman Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 cricket was designed for unfit people :cantstop: Ranatunga had a great career with that body
kabira Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 But But most of them tend to outshine million dollar foreigners..
Clarke Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Speaks a lot about our domestic structure. The grade A players and their fitness might be one thing but overall infrastructure is another.
DomainK Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 cricket was designed for unfit people :cantstop: Ranatunga had a great career with that body Well, cricket allows some of it's players to be a little on the unfit side. And traditionally most Indian cricketers have not maintained the best fitness levels possible. But we have played (and are playing) great cricket and thats what should matter in the end. A Sehwag may not be as fit as he could be, but he is feared by all fit and unfit bowlers alike. Sachin may not be the fittest cricketer around, but all fit cricketers look upto him and silently wish if they could be like him,
thongale Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 At least 90% of the Indian players are not drunk to the top like Symmo. Idiot, the ape, he's asking for more.

Deleted_User_1 Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 yeah but the point is' date=' how much more better could we play if we were more fitter.[/quote'] Yup we would definitely: 1. run harder, be more alert 2. Take our catches 3. Be alert in the field and be better fielderS. Lean and mean is definitely better than fat and meak. India would go places if they were fitter. Also probably would produce real fast bowler if these folks would do more strength conditioning in the gym. It is the chalta hain attitude. Personally although I am an Indian, I am mentally far from such a complacent attitude.
