If Hussey wanted to skip the T20 tournament, he could have done so - look at what Michael Clarke has done. But no, the pussy wanted the excuse of his BOARD not "letting" him play. Since he couldn't get that excuse, now he's trying to make this excuse. Man up, pussey.

India really needs a Players Associations so that at least proper scheduling can be forced upon BCCI.

Somehow I feel BCCI wouldn't allow that to happen. They'd find a to stop it from being started. Maybe states in the players contracts that they're not allowed to join one :cantstop:

because the CA is a founder member of the CL T20 along with the BCCI & SA Cricket board. So in essence they have a stake in the tournament, and would have agreed that all their players would play. They wouldn't have asked Hussey to go play in IPL if it ended a week before the start of an Aussie test series.

Except that he's LEGALLY contracted to play. I'd rather have players like him say no to these stupid leagues so that such competitions get devalued and would stop copycat tournaments from popping up. CLT20, IPL, who gives a ****. Is winning the CLT20 going to cement his position for the Ashes ?

I don't think its franchise. CLT is run by BCCI, ACB, SAF B, so they have mutual agreement to field their best team. Question to Hussey, if your state team was in the CLT20, and Chennai not qualified, I am sure you would have played without asking for the break from CA

Hussey was trying to coax his board into helping him pull-out or something. Its quite similar to what Sunil Chettri did recently to come back. The fact that he's making an excuse for poor performance is for all of us to see. I would've liked to rather see him say that, "Its a challenge to balance T20s and Tests at such a short notice. But this is the beauty of modern-day cricket. I'm relishing the challenge". Instead, he chooses to take a smartly worded dig. Now you chose to interpret it the way you felt like. I did the same. Treat an opinion on its merit. And I think they hate us for they do. You know the reasons. This is however an endless conversation as you are going to stay stubborn and so am I. Aah and why were these disclosures not made when he landed in India. Back then his statements, it's a challenge and I will cope up. After the failures the tune has suddenly changed.

my god... people here are blaming IPL CL left right and center. Hussey thinks he could have prepared better and played better if he did not play in CL? Well. Pup did not play in the league and arrived in India and played the warm up game, and still he failed isnt it? Hussey is blaming CL for failure in test. But our Indian players have been on the receiving end even before these IPLs and CLs came into the picture. BCCI's scheduling never allowed our Indian players to prepare for a series properly and our players have accepted it as part and pacel of being an international cricketer and moved on remember our last series down under in 2008. we had just one warm up which was also got washed out and we entered the first test with literally zero prep. Same way, in the inaugural CL T20 in 2008 (which got cancelled due to 26/11) the final was scheduled to end just a day or two before the start of the first test against england and Dhoni was in a similar situation, assuming CSk qualified for the semis. Yet he did not complain (the tournament itself did not kick off was a different matter altogether). Our players have accepted that these are inevitable and have learned to move on. You need to play in the leagues for the financials it offers and being a loyal employee to your franchisee and you also need to play for your national team, without which you are not the star what you are. When will the aussies learn?

Okay...if I were Hussey, I would opt out of the upcoming IPL auction honestly citing my inability to be 100% dedicated to the would-be franchisee due to the commitment to my country. We will see what he does - Won't count though if he pulls out of IPL like Clarke after realising he won't be a hot buy anyway.

I think it is CI acting up. Why TF does it matter to them if CL20 is given priority ? It makes business sense, we always know that it is the business side of it that controls any kind of sport.

CA asks Oz players to stop complaining about playing in T20 Sydney: Cricket Australia has asked its players to stop complaining about tight schedule between Twenty20 tournaments and Test matches, as it was clearly mentioned in their lucrative Indian Premier League contracts in writing. Australian batsman Mike Hussey has said that he had requested Cricket Australia to excuse him from the Champions League in order to prepare for the Test series against India, but his request was refused, and he was ordered to play for Chennai Super Kings. CA holds a 25 per cent stake in the Twenty20 Champions League, therefore it has a vested interest in making its players available for the six million dollar tournament. But CA said on Saturday that the clause for participation in the Champions League was written into IPL contracts. The organisation was essentially powerless to prevent the franchises from forcing internationals to play. “The players who choose to sign IPL contracts do so presumably on the basis of eyes wide open. Those contracts are nothing to do with us. It is a condition of those contracts that players stay until the end,†CA spokesman Peter Young told The Sun-Herald. Hussey and teammate Doug Bollinger were part of Champions League winner Chennai team in South Africa and the pair would have preferred to train with teammates in India. Hussey struggled in the first innings after two days of preparation, while Bollinger sustained an injury.
