With age not on his side, Yuvraj will never be known as a test batsman even if he magically earns a spot and starts scoring from now on. However, I dont think Raina and Pujara have completely closed the doors on Yuvi. Its early days for both of them. However, Yuvraj can still look forward to getting an opening sometime in future to cement a spot. However, this is not in in his hands now anyways so he should stop bothering about test cricket alltogether. If he does excellently well in worldcup compared to his counterparts, he will be back in tests again. So what I am trying to say is that only way Yuvi can force himself into test team is by playing extra ordinary one day cricket and esp in worldcup, however illogical it may seem.

Yuvraj has genuine reasons to feel disappointed. If it wasn’t bad enough to be upstaged by Raina, DESPITE performing reasonably well in the Lanka test series, he has now been discarded for a 22 year old rookie middle order bat. If that doesn’t tell him that the selectors want to look in different directions, nothing will. It’s a pity because, it was the same selection committee under the same chairman Srikkanth, who bought him into the middle order test spot, with much fanfare back in 2008. Then, you had Srikkanth giving public statements as to how he felt Yuvraj could be a very good middle order bat for India. Between then and now, they’ve obviously had a re-orientation of their opinion that now seems pretty irreversible, unless of course both Raina and Pujara fail miserably, which is highly unlikely. Yuvraj should stop brooding over his lost test spot and focus all his energies on bringing us WC glory. After all, it was the ODI game that bought him all the accolades in the first place and propelled him to the forefront. If Yuvraj wants to make a bold statement, he has all the opportunities to do, come Feb-March, 2011.

[/quote'] Come on dude, you know very well much like everyone else that that the only reason Yuvraj was discarded was because Raina batted so well in the 2nd and 3rd test in Lanka and not because of lack of form.

I have to be honest and admit that there once used to be a time when I thought Yuvraj had it in him to succeed in test cricket and but just looking at the way some of his competitors have emerged, I think its time for him to reconcile with the reality and move on.

Yuvi lacks 1) Temperament 2) Technique for a long career in Tests.

I think the technique is there but I doubt his temparament..Yuvi needs to find a MOTIvation(no pun intended) or fired up to bring out the best in him....Hpefully World cup this year will be his time to shine bcoz for the first time he could find himself being on of the senior players of the squad in a long time
