Shakthi Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Ashwin is a better bowler give him more time if people like jaddu can get chances y not ashwin .
ZodiaC Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 As much as all of us hate admitting it' date=' Jadeja does his job with the ball.[/quote'] Avg of 41+ suggests otherwise.
achilles Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Avg of 41+ suggests otherwise. Seems like Ashwiin's on everyone's list already. Ojha deserves his shot at the cap too. Lets see how it goes. One thing is for sure. Yuvraj is bowling 10 overs and is picking up wickets. The message is loud and clear. He could be our all-rounder per se, if Jaddu is to be ousted. Ashwiin, Ojha, Mishra, etc. would be in the queue and #2 priority's once Bhaj comes back.

I won't mind if we play either one of them, Ojha of course deserves his place. But Ashwin providing some firepower down the order and his variations gives him an edge over Ojha. Yuvi can play as a bowling allrounder, he's done alright in the last 2-3 innings, and bowled much better than Jaddu.

I think Ashwiin might have to up his batting if he's seriously speculating his name to be in the mix of things for the World Cup as a permanent member of the XI. Bhajji is a fixed slot, so it is only Jaddu's slot which is gonna be up for grabs. Among the contenders- 1. Yusuf Pathan (Up - Batting, Down - Inconsistency) 2. Pragyan Ojha (Up - Performer, Down - Mug with bat) 3. Ashwiin (Up - Good bowler, Down - Batting unknown, fielding trash) I think Ashwiin might sneak in.
vaibhav_delhi Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 ^ You Hate him with Loads of Passion dont you? I admire\like sachin and consider those immature who call him god.
Ram Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Ashwin could be the that X-factor that we were looking for, to help us win our first WC in nearly 30 years. He could do for us what Jayasuriya did for Lanka in '96, or Klusener for the Safies in '99 or Tait for the Aussies in 2007. Even as we somehow keep persisting with this barely believable strategy of picking 3 pacers for ODIs at home no matter what, Aswhin could be missing link that could solve our bowling riddle. One of the main reasons used to justify the failed strategy of picking 3 seamers for the ODIs is extension of power-plays in the ODIs. Aswhin is power-play specialist who excels bowling with fielding restrictions. The way he managed to tied down top order batsmen with his guile and keep the runs down should give us a clue as to why this guy is MUST-HAVE in the world cup side. I will play him as the 2nd or even the 3rd specialist spinner in the side with Bhajji, drop one of our pacers and bring in Uthappa at no.7.
Lord Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Ashwin is a must for WC.we need wicket taking spinners in middle overs,Yuvraj showed yesterday what Jadeja was doing wasnt special n he can do similar job too(with the ball I mean).if he can work on his batting a bit more,he'll be very handy
philcric Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 My pick: Sehwag Tendulkar Gambhir Kohli *+ Dhoni Yuvi Raina Ashwin / Bhajji (whoever seems to be in better bowling form) Praveen Zaheer Nehra imo Yuvi is better off at #6 than at #4. Yuvi and/or Raina to take advantage of batting powerplay overs. They are also the 5th bowler (along with sehwag if he's fit to bowl).

spectre Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Also, he is one spinner who can be relied to bowl during the PPs. He has shown that numerous times in T20. harbhajan and Zaheer are hopeless when batsman start going after them. Less said of other bowlers the better Raina is another guy who should be used a bowl a lot more Dhoni should use Ashwin to bowl his first 5 during 5-15 overs and the other 5 during 35-50 overs Ashwin is a must for WC.we need wicket taking spinners in middle overs' date='Yuvraj showed yesterday what Jadeja was doing wasnt special n he can do similar job too(with the ball I mean).if he can work on his batting a bit more,he'll be very handy[/quote']

When i see him bowl he does not impress me at all but he keeps it fairly tight and picks up the odd wicket!

He needs to be bowled more often in ODIs, he's not a bad bowler and can bowl 4-5 overs on a regular basis if given an opportunity.

They're quite alright as parttimers (although Yuvi>Raina), and can bowl well in the middle overs.
Sooda Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Id agree with playing 3 spinners at home; two pacemen would probably be Zaheer and Praveen. Itd be nice if we had a good leggie to give the spin attack variety, two offies in Ash and Bhajj and Yuv to bowl SLA. Piyush can bat and he was a good ODI spinner in the brief spell he had with us...
fineleg Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Ravichandran Ashwin has worked his way up to the Indian ODI squad, and has done quite well against the New Zealand team Will he make it to the WC squad? Well, even if he does not, I hope he gets some chances after the WC2011. Good Luck R.A.
