vayuu1 Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 first of all ,hi to every member of icf, i have been reading a lot of views of the icf members regarding our team,which is performing well at the moment , we often discuss about lack of genuine quick and genuine all rounder in our team and how our other strengths compensate for that which is quite remarkable, But.. There are areas which needs immediate concerns Death Bowling: This is a major area of concern, off late our bowlers are performing very well during first 40 overs ,but then last 10 overs we are leaking just too many runs ,even today the kiwi batters who at one point were not looking like getting 230 got 258,who could forget that cameo by white.it can be a big headache in the worldcup especially in subcontinents ,i know that india is performing well but it would be wiser to work on weakness as well, i wud like the icf members to add other points as well and once again hi to every body.
cowboysfan Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 welcome.I cant remember the last time we had consistent death bowlers so this performance is nothing new.Teams with good lower order hitters can really hurt us.

Completely agreed with this Point. The fact that not many good death bowling sides around ATM we can see us chasing down Big scores around 300. The day we face a good Death Bowling United we'll be ruing about Our poor Death bowling as they wouldnt let us score over 8 Runs an Over in the later stages.

Andy Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 wont happen ' date=' cos there is none atm .[/quote'] Sri Lanka is Good with Malinga operating.
vayuu1 Posted December 1, 2010 Author Posted December 1, 2010 my point is why wait for others ,why don't we start this trend of good death bowling u need variations we have that so why not utilise it.
Ram Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Death bowling IS a big worry. The Lankans made a mockery of our pacers during the final overs when they were here over a year ago. Anyone remembers how the rookie Perera manhandled soemone as experienced as Zak to win a match for them.? Even in the solo-match against the Aussies, we got pillaged by Cameron White for something like 120 runs off the last 10 overs, which is unacceptable by ANY standard. It seems like we really dont have any pacer who seems capable of keeping the runs down in the dying stages. So the focus should shift to cause as much damage as possible b/w overs 13 - 40.

Zak with his injury niggles will always be a question mark to me. He is nothing special in the death overs.

Well, when he came into the international scene first, he made his name through those searing 90 mph Yorkers. But he remodeled his action after 2005 and while that seems to have spurred his test career, his ODI effectiveness seems to have gone down considerably.

If the team unit thinks like u then god help our team last 10 overs are as important or even more than 13-40 overs ,i mean what's the use of bowling well for 40 overs and ruining every thing in the last 10 .we did this mistake in the 2003 world cup final when our bowlers leaked 170 run in 15 overs of that 125 in last 10 and the best way to contain run is to take wickets ,dont wait for things to happen ,try to make them happen.
kabira Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 now tell me who has good death bowlers...every team is suffering from this...
Cricket_Guru Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 india being as strong as they are could cost them the world cup! i dont know why, i mean looking at todays performance, it showed signs of what youngsters can do, but the team india is going to field will be pretty similar to that off 2007 world cup, where oldies failed miserably. india can have 2 strong teams with amazing batsmans because nobody deserves to sit out from the youngsters. selectors have tough job to do, especially dhoni. 2011 world cup will be biggest challenge of dhoni's career, he has a team which can win world cup, will he utilise his resources efficiently enough to brighten the ICF in march well we need to wait and see. :--D
ShahidAfridi Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 I don't think India will win the world cup because of their bowling attack. Cameron White recently proved that there death bowling is poor. Pakistan have a similar problem with Shoaib Akhtar who has trouble bowling his spell at the death so i think we could see a varied attack for Pakistan. Gul Amir (hopefully) Akhtar Ajmal.

My point, which you obviously misunderstood, was that if you’re unable to control the damage in the last 10, its imperative that we compulsorily do well elsewhere. Sure, if we can implement plans to curtail the bleeding in the last 10, of course we must pursue them. Who said we shouldn’t? But it looks like we don’t have the requisite skill-sets to do what we want to do.
vayuu1 Posted December 1, 2010 Author Posted December 1, 2010 now tell me who has good death bowlers...every team is suffering from this... Well lanka has malinga,parera ,africa has tostobe,steyn and morkel,australia has bollinger,harris, harwood,well i have named three though some might say steyn is not as good in odi's but he has played enough cricket in india to cause us problem.

Laaloo Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Anyone knows how to sort the bowling numbers from overs 40-50 in the last 2 years in the subcontinent on CI?
vayuu1 Posted December 2, 2010 Author Posted December 2, 2010 Anyone knows how to sort the bowling numbers from overs 40-50 in the last 2 years in the subcontinent on CI? I remember a depleted australian side doing well in india ,though in some matches the were tonked but they did bowl well in comparision of india to lift the series especially after the arrival of bollinger in the team they looked diffrent unit. See the thing is whether we like it this is a genuine area of concern ,death bowling is not all about yorkers or slower ball ,its about keep the batsman guessing ,the bowlers have variations so they should use it,i have a feeling the team whose bowling performs well in wc will eventually win it.
jf1gp_1 Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Please name one country which have the bowling line up to contain even the crappiest batting team like say pak during death overs specially when 46-50 are batting power play ?
Jersey #10 Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Australia - Bollinger,Harris Sri Lanka - Malinga Pakistan - Gul-Ajmal-Riaz-Amir:haha::haha::haha::haha::haha::haha: NZ - Vettori :haha: India- Zak England - Nobody South Africa - M Morkel
