Indian cricketing maestro Sachin Tendulkar has turned down a mega endorsement offer from top liquor brand. TIMES NOW learns the master blaster said no to a record breaking deal due to promise he made to his father years ago. Meanwhile sources close to Sachin tell your channel that master blaster has always believed he shouldn’t promote alcohol or tobacco brands to youngsters even if he is offered a very high sum in return. This after his father Ramesh Tendulkar once told Sachin people will offer a lot of money for ads but he should never endorse brands that are not good for youngsters and since Sachin promised his father he will never in his career endorse such products. “Sachin always believed that he shouldn't promote alcohol, tobacco brands to youngsters. How much ever high they offer, he will never accept. While his father was alive he told Sachin, people will pay you tons of money for adverts but never endorse brands that are not good for youngsters. He promised his father, he will never endorse alcohol and tobacco brands ever in his life,†sources close to Sachin said.

Record deal? I thought he was offered a singing gig! :hysterical: This news is not surprising at all. The dude's probably one of the most near-perfect role-models in the history of all professional sport. His record of clean behavior is spotlessly clean. Plus, it is really awkward to see some of the top-notch celebrities come on tv and promote products with taglines that are deplorable. When Shah Rukh Khan comes on the Fair and Handsome ad and tells with a straight face 'Now you too can be fair and handsome, just for Rs.5..', it is almost nauseating. I'd like to know if SRK thinks its essential for someone to be fair, to be considered handsome? If yes, is that a message he will pass along to his kids as well?

Tendulkar is where he is because of his family values and that is quite obvious. Though it is very commendable for standing by the word he has given to his Late Father to not endorse any alcoholic drinks objectively looking the cola drinks like Pepsi or Coke have far reaching repercussions than the alcoholic drinks and somehow I personally think a red flag needs to be raised with regards to the soda drinks just as with tobacco or alcoholic products. Kids are exposed to the Pepsi's and Coke's of the world at a much earlier age than any of these other products and the damage the cola drinks can do because of very high sugars and chemicals is as bad or worse. And we all know almost all of the super stars in all sports have an endorsement deal either with Pepsi or Coke.

Good on ya Sachin
He has class, grace and dignity, I wish you guys could learn something from him, I mean the whole country and all the people instead of doing durka durka ...

Good on him but alcohol really gets a bad rep in india thanks to all the *****y movie alcoholics.
He is more worried that young kids who consider him his role model might be influenced to start drinking than the overall effects of drinking

Apparently Sachin was offered more for a 1 year deal than what Dhoni has recently accepted for a 3 year deal with the UB Group. This is what we call a role model *adore*
It was around $4.4 million (20 crorres) per year
