Raina for me was never a permanent..he cannot be a test batsman in no1 team...he has too many problems...today too, he can left that ball he edged to slip....he continuously plays in ODI mode...

Totally false. Since when do you those players bat so low? :headshake: So what if they are better? they are not suited for the role that is being questioned anyway. How about we play to the players strengths rather screwing around with them in the order.
you obviously dont possess that much experience of watching test match cricket.......hence you are totally misinformed on this raina issue. calls to drop him isn t a knee jerk response like you claim.....he's shown in the last 8 innings or so that he has zero back foot play (something essential in test matches overseas and that you cant live w/o). so the evidence against raina is far more compelling than a knee jerk reaction. secondly..since when do pujara and vijay bat so low!! throughout history countless top-middle order greats have made their starts in test match cricket lower down the order, here are just a few: tendulkar sehwag ponting pietersen dravid inzamaam ul haq kallis there are many more example i could give so because that fact that vijay and pujara are potential top order players- is not reason for them not to take rainas place as ipl comiissioner- when its the season to discuss dlf maximums- dont worry we'll make you the forefront of all discussions

raina has been playing non-stop and its very normal to have a bad patch he should be rested for this test series, pujara can replace him will get back in the groove for the WC when he plays the odis and t20s
agree, raina should be rested for this series......and every other test series india plays during his lifetime. the only hope i can see for raina is if he goes to england/south africa and learns back foot play in those conditions, similar to hayden when he learnt how to play spin from bishan bedi

I am one of the biggest fan of Raina... Will always support the guy... He needs to given more chances..in the first innings' date=' everyone failed....u cant blame the guy[/quote'] in first innings everyone failed due to superb deliveries, raina failed to an innocuous delivery- IN BOTH INNINGS

I agree that they can initially start lower in the order and work there way up. But I dont propose that they should right now, Pujara is a pure middle order batsmen whos proven through domestic performances and the innings against Australia. Vijay maybe because he doesn't really have a future in team, he can be adjusted to suit the teams needs. Even guys like Kohli, Rohit etc. wont be effective that low imo.

also by applying conventional cricketing wisdom it is quite possible that pujara would be even more prolific down the order as it is widely acknowledge that batting nos 5-6 are generally the easiest places to bat as the ball is old and moves less

More than the technique, Raina is having a mental problem. Tried to play aggressively in last few tests, could not score runs and now looks unsure about his approach and keeps hanging on the backfoot all the time. Hopefully sometime away in nets and he will be ready for the ODIs and get his confidence back.

Had a horrid NZ tour(if he had done anything of note in that series ,he would have sealed his spot),then we played against lanka at home, had a chance to seal his spot agin when our top order collapsed at motera but again got a 50 and departed Then went to bangladesh and again had an oppurtunity to seal his spot in the 1st innings when the toip order had collapsed but again he failed Then had a whole list of injuries, missed SA tour, came back in the SL tour, got a good 50 and got out to his old nemesis murali both times Again got injured and raina came in and sealed his spot for a while with a century under pressure So ,Yuvi in last 2 years had lots of chances to deliver where it matters and fell short on all the ocassions, for me he has got enough chances and he has shown he is misfit for test cricket,SO END OF THE STORY
