1st things 1st, if u wanna moan about the toss, the score, and all the doom and gloom that surrounds your worthless lives then please dont post in this fkn thread, go **** off to one of the other threads and post your pointless garbage there. ok, now that we got that outta the way: not the worst day imaginable but still frustrating to see india wasting their opportunities. i called 210/8 at the end of days play and we probably would have gotten that if not for the delays, so no surprises here all the batsmen got starts but not one single guy kicked on to make a 50+ score. u cant really fault most of the dismissals, as steyn and morkel bowled brilliantly again and made scoring really difficult in the bowler friendly conditions. steyn's wickets were well earned and he is showing why he is the best pace bowler in the world by a country mile. shot selection to short deliveries was a bit over aggressive, especially with the pull which they used too early in their innings. u can see that indian batsmen still arent used to the pace of these wickets plenty of movement but very consistent bounce out there, should be a fast wicket for most of the test, that grass isnt going anywhere even after the saffies use the heavy roller on that thing before india bowl. a score of 250 or thereabouts will be pretty defendable and our bowlers will enjoy the bounce on offer whats frustrating was seeing india throwing two wickets away to that talentless piece of trash lonswago tokstsbowe or whatever the hell his name is. this guy was utterly harmless but tendulkar and pujara just gifted their wickets away to him, what a shame. maybe they are trying to cement his place in the lineup for the 3rd test when they know they can smash his lights out on a more batting friendly track at cape town day 1 honours to south africa, but they got lucky with the bad light delaying play at the end cos with steyn pullig his groin there were free runs on offer in that last session for dhoni and harbhajan. now they are gonna be facing him in the morning which will be a lot tougher, but any score over 200-220 should be looked at favourably

Our batsmen exceeded my expectations. And we look good for a total of 220+. Of course we were a tad unlucky, especially the dismissal of laxman. On any other day, that shot would have reached the boundary. Remember, the strength of our Zaheer and Co is swing and I expect them to cause lot of trouble for saffers.

pujara is one of the best batting talents around and u can see that he has had some preparation for the conditions. they should have never played raina in the 1st test because he was one of the last to arrive in south africa, was always gonna be a walking wicket with no preparation...foolish selection

Not a good day but not disastrous. Big disappointment for me was Tsotsobe's wickets too, Steyn can be accounted for as genuine moments of quality but this guy was trundling along with the most innocuous short-pitched bowling you'll see. Without those brainfarts/fortune we would probably be in quite a solid position with batsmen still at the crease. Oh well. At least we are making a relatively decent fist of things - would like to think the two @ in the middle plus competent batsmen in Ishant and Zaheer can carry us a fair way past 200 tomorrow. Still maintain faith in Pujara as a better option than most...deserves a bit of slack coz getting out to a Tsotsobe bouncer is, in the grand scheme of things, a freakish anomaly

wtf, who edited my post all i said was tososktobe is a affirmative action racial quota selection, which is true. stop this censorship plz
You did more than that, you used a specific word which has racial connotations. There is no censorship involved this is about decency.

more like Cowardly selection. Even if the selectors are 100% certain a batsman will fail they'll keep picking him untill no one will disagree with their decision drop them. Similar to how the handled Yuvraj singh and wasim jaffer.

unlike most i was not impressed by pujara ; i thought he was lucky to be even around as long as he did but then i really hope he does justice to the potential he has shown in domestic cricket. Also i dont think it was that a bad toss to lose; we survived the first 10 overs though vijay struggled though the whole innings but with a little better application we should not have lost more than 3 wickets; SA when they come out to bat will score 500+ on this wicket

60-40 for SA so far. Another 50-60 runs could be crucial here. One out of Dhoni and Bhajji needs to get to a 50 here (can we have both hitting 50s please). Zaheer is going to be quite a handful here. And this pitch will also give Ishant and Sree the perfect chance to get their rhythm back. Need to have more of such overcast weather when SA bat.

Uncle ji, An unsolicited advice I suggest you dont waste your time following this test match any further. Looks like you already know what the result is going to be.:winky:

The pitch won't be as flat as the first test but it will take a great comeback to win this match IMO. 400 runs shouldnt be hard to get with no overcast conditions. Our bowlers need to put in a good performance.

I can't wait for 2nd day play to start.... I have never been this excited abt test cricket We were really unlucky with the dismissals... bowlers looked tamed versions of themselves compared to Centurion except Steyn... Sachin, Pujara gifted their wickets needlessly....we were again unlucky w/ the light....but if bhajji and dhoni can settle down tmrw... we can def add 60-70 runs...unfortunately from Indian bowlers' point of view...tmrw it's suppose to shine down..but we should be able to extract wickets on this pitch...

It wasn't a bad day, i really thought Bhajji and Dhoni were getting the score after the ball was almost 50 overs old, they need to stick around for an hour or two tomorrow. 275 should be a par score on this pitch, i do know that Indian batsmen score more nowdays in second inning than first.

If the tail can wag a bit and add another 50-70 runs, it would be a great morale booster. I am also praying that the Indian bowling clicks!

There are some folks who are saying its not a bad position that India is in since we can get 250 and then bowl SA out cheaply. The thing is India played the first hour - the critical beginning of the match quite well, but then a combination of good bowling and some indiscrete shots meant that valuable ground was lost. 183-6 is a poor situation, and not sure how likely it is to get to 250. Lets say we get there. What next? Get SA out cheaply. Well, I hope so, but even if SA dont get a massive 500+ score, I think they can get a 150+ run lead in the 1st Inn. And such a lead on this pitch will be result enforcing.
