England- Best Team in the World ?

I think "most promising", "team to watch out for"...would be more better choice of titles. "Best" (without a qualifier word) should be used only with performances to back up with and ratings take good care of that.
But that is not the case with India. India is called the best based on its perfomance over last two years of which it has only played NZ away which is not a great side by any stretch. They played the other contenders SA at home and drew 1-1. So, it is the best without beating the other contenders ( qualification ). When I said the best, I purely mean in terms of team balance and composition under different conditions.

NO. This mirage of their recent domination of relatively weaker or teams going through transition will be destroyed when we (assuming you are Indian) tour them.
Apparently mirage of Indian domination at home takes some getting over. But what you said I have already stated in OP.

They seem the most balanced team right now though. Till the australia (ashes) series their batting was considered moderate, but their batsmen also seem to be getting into some form now. They have few (at most maybe one) outstanding players, but they don't seem to be carrying any free loaders. SA if you ignore the spinner part seem ahead of them in all other departments. And if you consider the past results its hard to go past India. All in all I would consider these three teams head over shoulders of others, but Sri Lanka is damn difficult to beat at home.

Apparently looking at India's top ranking as domination at home seems to make you feel better about it. Let me not ruin it.

What the hell does their team being younger have to do with them being the best team RIGHT NOW ? We are talking about the present, not 1 or 2 or 5 years from now. Sachin and VVS are playing in prime form, and the only person whose age is showing is Dravid.

Even I would not say England are the best team in the world right now, however it is only a matter of time when we are official number 1 in my eyes. In the Summer Colly should be gone and a bowling attack will contain Anderson, Tremlett, Broad and Swann. That looks pretty much unbeatable to me. Also I think its safe t say Andy Flower is a great coach and really innovative and getting the most out of the players at all times.

on pitches which offer no assistance , the attack is as bad as anyother ...still the most balanced , but its not something which will scare oppositions .

Ill accept the first innings had something in it but look at the second innings, same pitch england piled on 513 and bright blue skies.

yeah, just a matter of 2-3 years :muhaha: I know that beating the Aussies in their home is a very, very big deal for England (afterall they've not won the Ashes in Australia for 24 years :giggle:) but you have to realise that this is not the invincible Aussie team any longer. The India-England series will put all doubts about India's no 1 ranking to rest - we will convincingly beat England :finger:

ofcourse england is unofficial no 1 team after all they are t20 champs and who ever wins t20 WC has the right to call themselves No 1 team dont believe me ask pakis

Well 2-3 years is indeed a matter of time, if it takes that long then so be it. However I feel after the english summer people will realise who the top dogs are. No side has the bowling depth of England, look at Big Brez he would get in most test sides easily but is only playing here due to an injury to Broad. Then the batting looks solid with two world class performers KP and Trott with Bell soon joining that bracket. We will not be beaten by India, I can almost guarantee it.

I seem to recall India hailing themselves as "WORLD CHAMPIONSSSS" after winning the T20 WC, dont be a hypocrite.

They have proved that they can win when it is not like their home conditions. As I said, it is the most balanced side, but it has not won anything significant away from home yet which will be a qualification.
