Whenever we're in a pickle..although I hope against hope for Tendu to conjure up a magical innings....it is usually the sight of Laxman at the crease that gives me confidence no matter how dark the situation.... Australians pride themselves over Bradman's 99.99 average. Sachin's 50 test century record is also somethign which should make all indian hold their head high with pride. But of course, some of us Indians are self-loathers As for the OP, definitely Laxman by a long way, as a no 6, he is more experienced than Sachin in such situations.

Excuse me?! He certainly is the first man to reach 50 test 100s but the record of hitting the most 100s per game (for those who played 50 or more tests) is held by Sir Don Bradman, i.e. 29 100s in 52 games, which is approx. 56% of times. Sachin has 50 100s in 176 tests, which is like 28% :winky: And 50 tests 100 after playing 176 tests (which is not even the best ratio) is in no way comparable with a batting avg of 100 after 50 tests. That is like the holy grail of cricket.

How come I don't see threads in Australian forums how Hussey is much better than Ponting or Hayden? We are the no 1 team becasue each and every player is pulling their weight at some point or the other. Sachin and Seahwag had their best years ever. Zaheer was top of his game. VVS saved our @ss every time we were in trouble. Evne tail-enders showed fight by forming partnerships.

For the benefit of those who have long term memory problems(and some who just dont have any memory) ... below is a stat showing the amount of runs scored by the Big Cats when they have been the top 2 run scorers in a inngs. This is broken down by each match inngs and you can see for yourselves who has scored when. The fact of the matter is the entire 90s was made up of a string of test matches where we were up against it and there used to be only one hero. PS: In b4 the usual suspect(s) shows up claiming there is no pressure in the 1st inngs or that 99.9% of these runs were scored when there was no pressure or that it was a flat track. Like Anakin said we really are good at running down our own greats.

Is that serious piece of stats? :giggle: Ok so from what I understand the above table would even take something like the following in to account: Scenario A: Batsmen A 110 Batsmen B 100 Batsmen C 90 Batsmen D 80 Or Scenario B: Batsmen A 40 Batsmen B 30 Batsmen C 20 Batsmen D 10 I hope you realize that we are talking about situation when a batsman rises above others when others seem to struggle :P
