Did Arrogance and Over-Confidence Hurt The Saffers?

Read it in the papers today. Amla, the local boy wanted to shave off the grass of the wicket. But the arrogant Kallis, Smith and Boucher insisted to keep it that way coz they considered this as our weakness. This has really hurt them badly.

What is the alternative ? Have flat wickets and have large scores of 500 + ? They have to do this and hope Indians collapse. They (or anybody else for that matter) cannot do anything else

^actually if you read the papers you would understand what OP is trying to say. Smith is definately arrogant as we all know..but he has toned down over the years. You have see the history. They beat us badly in 2008, and smith was over us in the media, we can't play lol...we came back strongly and levelled the series. Same thing in 2010, lost badly, Smith goes to media, Indians don't know how to play blah blah..again we levelled the series. Current Series, he goes to media, even mentions we can' take 20 wickets..Harris bowled better than Harbhajan..We can't handle seaming wickets blah blah.. Isn't that arrogance for you??

Why do Indian fans always complain about the opposition being arrogant? Haha who cares...
Did you bother reading/hearing the comments coming out of the Saffie camp before the series and after the 1st test? They openly disrespected India, questioned their #1 ranking, questioned their ability to win in SA. That's arrogance - any way you slice it.

Robin jackman at the end of 1st day 2nd test ; SA should look for 3-0 washout so that they rightfully move to the no 1 spot. Anyways here is what i want someone to explain to me - Indian batsman only perform on flat track; our bowlers are club level and apparently even Bangladesh has better bowling lineup than ours Yet our below avg bowling line up on a bouncy track wrapped game in under 4 days; so which one is it SA has to be the worst batting side in test ? or maybe we actually have the most under rated bowling line . ofcourse you could always use paki logic and claim this match was fixed by bcci

i think its more a question of why does every one thinks they can beat us when no one really does ? look at the english they right now think they are the best in world yet the fact is they have lost both home and away test series against India

The problem is there is a lack of awareness of india's impvrovement outside the subtontinent gradually during the last decade. i see many of the views being influenced by the old days when we struggled to win a test outside asia.they are outdated by several eyars now. we have beaten england in egland,wi in wi , nz in nz,zim in zim in the last 4 years. also too many of the fans are one sided- they want india to win in SA/ Aus but they don't understand aus/sa don't win in india either. if there is more fair and reasonable views based on facts rather than outdated data, it would help.

This happens in every big series where teams try to get under the opposition's skin :) We Indian fans should stop whining every time someone from opposition gives a comment.

Yeah right. This comes from a fan whose cricket team's captain keeps the opposition's captain, who was on the field itself, waiting for a hand shake. You should have seen MSD's press conference to know how does a non-arrogant person/team behave. And when you say things like-> 1) It seems we have learnt to play spin but the indians have not learnt to play fast bowling. 2) We could have done much better than what India did on Day 2 in Centurion. 3) Sachin made the task easy for us while in hindsight their most trusted player Mark Boucher did the same thing.

I like that grass. India's bowlers become more effective with that extra help and our batsmen are better equipped to handle that grass than any other batting lineup.

You were the one who brought in the Indian fans' perspective.
