Pune has lots of options... Irani hotels' date=' vada pavs, samoses, Poha etc for morning breakfast... Can't be said same for Hyderabad... You only have all those tiffin centres or have to go to old city for some chaat etc... :beee:[/quote'] Hyderabad has awesome Irani hotels too. Never heard of Osmania biskoot and Irani chai? Vada pavs and samosas you can get anywhere. Sorry, when it comes to food Hyderabad is better than Pune, actually Hyderabad is the best place for food. :beee::beee::beee: Off topic: I like Pune too, its been good to me. :icflove:

Food wise, my preference is as follows: Breakfast - South Indian. Rest of India sucks when compared to the variety of tiffin/breakfast varieties from South - Idly/Vada (Medu, Masala)/Dosa (Rava, Masala, Onion, MMD, etc)/Sambar./Chutney + Filter Coffee >>> Any combo from anywhere in India Lunch/Dinner - Alternate between Punjabi - Tandoori Roti + Yummy Sabjis and Southie Bisiebela Baath + Puliyodharai + Aviyal + Rice/Sambar/Rasam/Mor Kozhabu, etc Evening Snacks - Samosas + Chai

The westies are related to southies i think' date=' otherwise why would their family name be Dravid :P[/quote'] Dravid is a surname that was coined to identify as somebody from the south. When the Marathas ruled Thanjavur, Dravid's forefathers were the royal priests for them. When the confederacy started breaking up into the princely states, some Marathas moved up north to Indore , Jhansi,Gwalior but carried their priests with them.To identify their lineage as somebody from the south, they were anointed with the name "Dravid". In due course, they were assimilated into the local culture .So Dravids forefathers were Tamil Iyers ; his father still is.However his wife and mother are deshastha brahmins.

I think the concept is the same as yours. The common belief is that South India = AP + Kerla +TN + Karnataka etc. Inhabitants of these regions can be called Madrasi. Rest of India = north.
Go and say that to Marathis you are equivalent of North and see how they react actually SOuth and West have more common customs than North India.Festivals like GANESH chaturthi is not really known in North but in West and South Andhra this is a very prominent festival. North i mean Punjabi culutre is very similar to Pakistan the only thing difference is religion.

^ Karan Johar and Yash uncle made so much effort to make punjabi culture synonymous with Indian culture. All that hard work isn't paying off. :((
