Indian 2nd string test side which would be one of the strongest test side

I don't think our 2nd string test side will be as strong as some forummers think it to be. Really weak openers: Vijay Rahane Nothing eatraordinary in the MO: Kohli Badrinath Sharma Raina Ordinary keeper: Partiv/Karthik Bowlers Irfan Munaf RP Singh Mishra? Ojha? Ashwin? A terrible team it is!

Most of the above have played no test cricket at all, so perhaps reserve judgement until they do...Kohli for instance may prove to be a good test batsman, and Rahane. Isnt Saha the reserve test WK...? Though the bowlers you have listed have played test cricket and have ability their form has tailed off so much and the fact is Irfan and RPS are far from 2nd string now. Ditto with Mishra. Munaf might be, hopefully Praveen Kumar is and I would say people like Mithun and Pankaj Singh are. However the selectors are distinctly uncertain about pace back up in particular and there is no consistency or logic whatsoever- like Unadkat and Yadav touring SA when they were far far from the 4th and 5th best pacemen in the country. Just like they used to play musical chairs with Ojha and Mishra until Ojha kind of cemented his place as spin reserve. Aside from the fairly easy job of selecting the first XI, they have not done a great job of picking fringe players over the years. Anyway, yeah it is a big overstatement to say it would be a good test side...

why murali kartik.? shud have ashwin in his place, nd PP in place of Kaul but still u r just exaggerating things when u say that this will be one of the strongest est sides, batting is nice :nice: , but bowling is really lacking quality.

The only decent Test level player in the team are Kohli & Badri. Munaf can be...but he is only fit & bowling good when he is playing for MI. The rest of the players are washed out...& T20 type.
