Cricketics Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 If we put down a second string Indian test x1, i believe, our line up will still would be one of the best batting lines up the world rite now. Check this team out, All those who are not picked as first choice players in test x1 Murali Vijay - Sureshot opener slot taken by him Ahinav Mukund- No doubts I reckon Ajinkya Rahane Virat Kohli Rohit Sharma Subramaniam Badrinath Uday Kaul(WK) Irfan Pathan R.P Singh Murali Karthik Munaf Patel Reserves Bats Wasim Jaffer Manoj Tiwary Manish Pandey Bowlers Sumit Narwal Sudip Tyagi Ajit Agarkar Iqbal Abdulla What you reckon about this. I believe these names are some of the most important names of Indian cricket. Very strong side above.
Online Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 I am all for positivity and patriotism but this is stretching things too far. This team will get walloped by most other sides.
fineleg Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 This team will get walloped by most other sides. :withstupid: International teams will massacre that squad.
Cricketics Posted January 7, 2011 Author Posted January 7, 2011 I am all for positivity and patriotism but this is stretching things too far. This team will get walloped by most other sides. Really. I mean this bowling attack of Indian side mentioned above is as good as the one which plays perhaps for our national side, so when our bowlers take the beating, it will be similar:cantstop: Batting is pretty strong. I mean definately better than current sri lankan, pakistan, west indian, and also Australian and NZ line up. up in top 3 i believe.
kabira Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Oh My God you forgot Ashwin. That batting is really good..but not experience.
yoda Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Not a bad side, but they may be good enough only to beat the BangBros. Bowling is quite weak, batting is not bad.
The Outsider Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Raina can come in for now, since he does not feature in the playing XI for India. Ashwin as spinner. I think at home the above team should be able to beat/compete with BD, NZ, WI, Pakistan, and perhaps Australia. They'll probably get beaten comprehensively away from the subcontinent, till they can get some experience.
vvvslaxman Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 I am all for positivity and patriotism but this is stretching things too far. This team will get walloped by most other sides. We saw in Zimbabwe :cantstop:
Sir john Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 naman ojha should be in place of uday kaul. :hitler:
rkt.india Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 they wont be able to take take 20 wickets anywhere in the world....you sure Munaf can survive 5 days of test cricket and 25 overs in a day in Indian conditions...
hari504504 Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 :haha: Innings defeats all the way.. sure they could make the opposition look like 'the strongest test side'..

I believe these names are some of the most important names of Indian cricket. Very strong side above. Assuming RP and Irfan are actually in good bowling form, that is a pretty decent attack. Perhaps Mishra could play and Ojha is not first choice spinner so technically he could make this team. Not sure though if it is as strong as we'd like to think! Would struggle against a good attack. And the bowling blows hot and cold A REAL 2nd choice XI (as per the selectorss) would be... Vijay, Mukund, Rahane, Rohit, Virat, Raina, W Saha, Yadav, Unadkat, Ojha, Mishra/Munaf In an ideal world with everyone fit and in form it should be Vijay, Mukund, Rahane, Badri, Virat, D Kartik, Irfan, Mishra, M Kartik, Munaf, R P Singh vs Sehwag, Gambhir, Dravid, Tendulkar, Laxman, Pujara, MSD, Bhajj, Zak, Sree, Ishant
King Tendulkar Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Yep our second string side would beat most sides
Chandan Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 I don't think our 2nd string test side will be as strong as some forummers think it to be. Really weak openers: Vijay Rahane Nothing eatraordinary in the MO: Kohli Badrinath Sharma Raina Ordinary keeper: Partiv/Karthik Bowlers Irfan Munaf RP Singh Mishra? Ojha? Ashwin? A terrible team it is!
NareshK Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 This side is good considering this is a selection of players apart from the squad that plays for India and most teams struggle to even field a good first choice squad. Of course, they will struggle to beat Australia or South Africa but it still shows there is some very good talent available on the bench apart from the first choice 15.
Raghav_12 Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Why isnt Pujara in the squad :hmmmm2: Pujara is currently part of first choice 11..
rkt.india Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 I don't think our 2nd string test side will be as strong as some forummers think it to be. A terrible team it is! NO team in the world has second team as good as first. IF they were as good as first why would be they were second. They would have been first in itself. This second team is a young and inexperienced team. This be good with experience and exposure. You will have a few players will make the step ahead to the first team from this, not all. Batting is still good but bowlers likes of Munaf and Irfan are no where near international test strike bowlers. RP can do but not Munna and Irfan..Instead youngsters likes of Mithun can serve better than tested failures.
