dr_tooley Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 I fully acknoweledge Dhoni's achievements in Test's but his current record in ODIs and T20 is pathetic. His record so far in major tournaments (and I don't include the joke Asia Cup) is as follows: 2007 - T20 world cup - Won! 2009 - T20 World cup - failed to make to the final stages. 2009 - Champion's Trophy - failed to make to he final stages 2010 - T20 World cup - failed to make it to the final stages 2011 - ODI world cup - ???????? Dhoni's inablity to get on with Sehwag has been at the heart of this dismal run. This is my personal feeling but I do feel now that Dhoni must produce or let someone else like Gambhir have a go. No more excuse or cheesy grim. If you can't produce move on and let someone who can.

He should NOT be playing T20s at all and should have competition with Uthappa as a wicketkeeper batsman in ODIs.. He shouldnt take his place for granted.. but ya, today was utter cowardly display of batting from him...

And you know he's going to win it do you? I guess SA, Aus, Eng and SL shouldn't even bother sending full strength squads. It is this sort of compliancy that will be Dhoni's undoing.

The Realist Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 I think Dhoni has regressed as a batsman, he never had the best technique anway but thesedays he cannot even hit boundaries, just lives off singles and plays out dot balls. He just plays in one mode now and can't seem to hit big even if he wants to. As a captain he has certainly got more conservative and some of his tactics and team selections are baffling. He doesn't seem as attacking as when he started the captaincy and is becoming too negative. It may well be that Dhoni has given as much as he can in the ODI arena as captain and after the WC it may make sense for another cycle to begin and for somebody elese to have a crack at the captaincy.

We do not have any Young Anil Kumble, SCG, RSD to take on the Mantle. Who do you or others who think MSD should be sacked think him to be Replaced with? I do not think Gambo has it in him to lead the side. Virat is a Potential Leader, But he is too Young ATM. P.S :I know You are one of the MSD Fanatics :icflove:
