The Telegraph of Kolkata says Fleming is expected to feature prominently as a successor to Gary Kirsten. Fleming has been coaching the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni's Indian Premier League franchise, from 2009. The Telegraph said it was significant the Board's president-elect and secretary, Narayanswamy Srinivasan, is closely associated with CSK. "Dhoni, who also captains CSK, has an excellent rapport with Fleming... Besides, Fleming is himself on very good terms with Srinivasan, who'll become the Board president this September," a well-placed source told the Telegraph. "And, so, don't be surprised if the cool Fleming is Kirsten's successor... He has a lot going for him." Kirsten's contract ends with the February 19-April 2 World Cup and, informally at least, he has already conveyed to the Board that he's not interested in an extension. Fleming, 37, is respected for having a shrewd cricketing mind and isn't the type to ignite controversies. Plus, he's known to manage players exceedingly well, the Telegraph says. In other words, someone the Board can do 'business' with. saneindian Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 During the NZ-Pak test telecast today, Sky Sports showed a lunch time interview of Stephen Fleming with Simon Doull. Fleming said he was focussed on doing well with CSK at IPL and then hopefully take them to CL and defend their title. Doull did not clearly ask him about the Indian coach reports, but out of the 15 minute interview, they talked about IPL and CL for 10 minutes. The rest 5 minutes were about new business ventures started by Fleming (A coffee shop with a cricket theme, a website for t20 cricket etc). Don't think he will be our next coach.

Let alone the best test side in the world... how experienced was Gary before he took over the Indian team or Andy Flower before he took over the English team??? Fleming would be an excellent choice. He's a level headed guy, a good batsman and a very good tactician and will hopefully do well if chosen as the next coach.
Rajan Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 he would be a very good coach if he takes up this. excellent mana management skills. shrewd tactician under him NZ always punched well above their collective strength. to manage characters like chris cairns, Astle and motivate them was a challenge. SF did admirably well. yes, Gary kirsten himself did not come with much coaching expertise-even state sides before he lead india to the # 1 team in rankings.
