He has lost his nervousness slowly. Slowly gaining confidence at the international level. As he gains more experience he will have better shot selection. If only he starts picking the right balls and right bowlers he can win match from any situation on a consistent basis. This is a trait nobody in Indian line up possess bar Viru. So he is certainly becoming an asset.

Any other questions? Yusuf is the only batsmen in the team that has stood up to the SA bowlers and once again absolutely demolished pace/spin alike. Like I've been saying all along, the man is the only power hitter we have lower down the order where guys like Raina/Yuvraj/Dhoni are falling apart. Time for Raina to take a break and for Yusuf to step in an all important role lower down the order to be our finisher.

He's a must in the world cup line up now. Don't care who gets dropped, he is a must that's for certain. But if he fails in the first 3 matches, then replace him with Raina. Can never drop Yuvi.

How lucky are we that, just when our middle order seems to be running into some rough weather, Yusuf should strike the form of his life. Our WC prospects were looking shaky with multiple injury worries at the top of the order and some out-of-touch batsmen in the middle order, but Yusuf's re-emergence has sparked some much needed life back into our bandwagon. Never mind the fact that Yusuf scored an outstanding 100, even he would admit that he didnt do enough by not finishing the fight and guiding India to a win. That shot against Morkel - a wild, ungainly hoick - was the shot of a man who already felt he had done his bit. At some point, Yusuf has to make that transition from being exclusively an entertainer, to a time-tested, reliable. match-winner. Very few can make that transition. Someone like Dhoni managed to do so, can anyone imagine what a nightmare scenario it would be for the opposition, if Yusuf can combine his blitzkrieg batting with some sensible thinking? This is the problem with power-hitters, they have a very low satisfaction threshold. Once they manage to connect a few out of the middle, they feel as though their job is done for the game. Yusuf has to break out of that vicious cycle. Another change that he has to undergo, for his own sake and his team's sake, is quite literally, to GROW up. Even as he was depositing all those balls beyond the boundary in that p'ship with Zaheer, it was Zaheer who was doing all the talking and Yusuf doing all the nodding in between deliveries. Sure, Zak may have been the senior player within the team, but why would a specialist batsmen take instructions about batting from a tail-ender? That may have been acceptable If Yusuf was 21, playing his rookie season. But he's 28 and this is his 4th year in international cricket. Its about time he broke out of his shell and imposed himself not just on his team-mates, but also on the game as well. And thats the problem with Yusuf. Every body knows there's no deficit of talent or ability, but he's still searching for his own identity, his own place, within the team. And that uncertainty is trickling down to his batting on the field as well. Somebody within the Indian camp (maybe Bhajji is best suited for this) needs to pull Yusuf aside to a corner and tell him that the team not only has great faith in him, but great expectations as well and that they not only expect him to score the odd quickfire innings, but also want him to stay there and win games for India. Ultimately in international cricket, you dont win respect by scoring the occasional big-bang innings. Respect only comes from being consistent match-winner. And within himself, Yusuf needs to make a choice as to what he wants people to remember him as - Whether a big-hitting batsmen who won occasional matches for India, or a reliable batsmen who juxtaposed his big hitting with some sane thinking.
