See, a person could be a part of a very strong playing XI, like Brad Hogg was of the Australian wonder team. He would have a very high win % in the ODIs he played in simply because his team was awesome, and not because he contributed much. Thats what I think anyways.

I haven't read Varma's article in the past (or may have w/o realizing who wrote them) but based on what you say, he could have invented the criteria to show that Tendulkar isn't in the top 5 or it could be a case where when Tendulkar doesn't top it's a conspiracy. I don't know! Viv Richards had an invincible team and the Indian team was'nt exactly "invincible" or world beaters in the last 20 years, so Goddy's winning percentage has got to be low. But this article is pure comedy :winky:

All numbers are necessarily between 0 and 5, up to two decimal points. I didn't quite follow what they mean when they say all heads are tallied, but it does seem that they've taken the entire career/longevity into account. I think they mean they have taken into account all the matches and then come to an average rating. If they had taken the longevity factor also i.e. the total number of runs scored, sachin would have been #1 or atleast in top 3 in any fair ODI rating.

Didn't you read about the other variables? And didn't you realize yet that all-rounders would do better in such rankings. Even bowlers as if they pick a 5-er in a win than that's like doing 50% ( 5 out of 10 wkts) of the work with 20% (10 overs out of 50 overs) resources. No point in getting all worked up because of some list.
