The less exposure the less chance of people being able to read him. Dale Steyn thinks rather highly of the guy saying that he got him out 14times in10 mins.

ODIs offer huge scope for attacking wrist spinners if used properly - there are of course Kumble and Warne, then Mushtaq Ahmed was successful as an attacking option. Hogg, Chandana, Strang are other wrist spinners who have been successful recently. It's just that the total number of finger spinners are much more than wrist spinners, so in the overall numbers they tend to stand out more. Well, it's not a complete coincidence that finger spinners tend to do well in Odis, more than wrist spinners. Some of the names you have listed - warne, strang, mushtaq Ahmed - are from a completely different altogether. In the last 7- 10 years, you'd be hard pressed to find any wrist spinner who was successful in odis I know you have the names afridi and murali in there, but they are unconventional in their own ways. But the list of finger spinners who have had relative success in Odis recently - endless.

saneindian Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Looks to be a wonderful addition to the SA bowling attack. For a wrist spinner, he bowls with a lot of control and has got a great variety. 4/41 on his debut is a great start for him.

Utalk Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 tahir is garbage. u know a cricketer must really suck donkey balls if he is rejected by one of the crappiest, talent-starved teams in the world like pakistan. sure, he has a good FC record, but he was taking his wickets in england and SA, countries where nobody has a clue how to play spin. cheap wickets against mediocre players of spin doesnt prove much, ask murali kartik. we'll never know until we see him play, but i'm not buying any ofthe hype around this paki reject cricket expert talking from his behind.
