^^Thanks rett. http://www.sony.co.uk/product/vn-e-series/vpceb3l0e-bq Any opinions on this vaio? This is based on flamy's reco.
That Vaio is pretty good too for the price. You can't go wrong with that. If I were you, I would go to a sony store and check it out, esp to see the screen and how comfortable I feel with the keyboard. You could even chk the Thinkpad line up. I don't know their price range in UK but T-series is considered to be quite good.

the NX90 is a sex bomb. If you get it, I guess, you will stick to it! PS the Lamborghini one is pretty cool too.

Bamboou U53jc is stunning as well. I need to find a showroom and go take a look, this is just amazing.

Btw, sometimes I ask myself: is the optical drive is getting redundant? In the last few months, I can count the occasions on my finger tips when I popped in or burnt a DVD. I usually download the stuff, watch movies through iTunes, use flash drives, etc .... I guess, you would need it to re-load the OS, burn a DVD, etc but in my case, it is not getting much use

Sony vaio is known to have very low volume...dunno if they fixed it.
They have not! I use a vaio on regular bases and the volume is very very low. That's the only bad thing about it though :--D HP and Dell laptops don't last more than year. vaio will last a couple of year without any problems.
