It is you guys, our fans, who have made Roadies the most wanted show to be on! Tens of thousands of young people come from towns and cities all over India and are ready to do ANYTHING to be on Roadies! So did Suraj. Dr Anjali Chhabria is a famous Mumbai-based psychologist. We showed her the audition video of Suraj aka Nagesh and asked her if she could believe him or not! Read on to get her opinion about fake Suraj and see if she believed his story! 1) CAN THE EXPERT PSYCHOLOGIST TELL THAT SURAJ IS LYING? Suraj has put up a fantastic performance. It would not be easy for the judges to spot that he was lying as they were all taken by his emotions / drama of his life. Looking at it from a psychological perspective now that we know the truth it seems that while he makes attempts to make his story believable there is confabulation (to make up false stories that one believes to be facts) seen in some of the factual information that he has presented. Also the emotions he expresses are not always matching the emotions of the story presented by him. However his good eye contact and his voice modulation with conviction, makes the story more believable. It is evident that he has learnt that drama sells on television and has made full use of it. 2) WHAT IS THE EXTENT TO WHICH YOUNGSTERS CAN GO TO BE ON A SHOW LIKE ROADIES? Every youngster in India today wants to be a ‘crorepati’ that is rich and famous soon and television provides a medium for the same. There are those who struggle and there are those who fool their way to the top. A lot of youngsters may think that he is ‘smart’ and that he could get away by lying his way in front of such a smart panel and hence want to copy his ways. It’s a learning experiencing. A lot of people would be shocked by it rather than finding a short cut to success. In the audition, one would probably look up to him as person of substance but after seeing the reality one would lose respect for a person like him who uses a sensitive story to be selected rather than his own strengths as an individual. 3) SHOULD THE JUDGES BE BLAMED FOR BELIEVING HIM AND KEEPING HIM ON THE SHOW? At end of it all, the judges are also human and as tough as they portray themselves to be, they were touched by his story. Everyone can make a mistake. One must remember not to be suspicious towards the all other contestants.

They are selling sadism because it sells. Just because it sells does not mean it's right. People take a certain pleasure watching others in humiliating circumstances and that is what is sold in shows like these. Indian Idol gets the best TRPs during the auditions for the same reason- the judges make sure to humiliate the applicants before throwing them out and it sells. To test one's personality and character, one does not have to be abusive. Putting candidates under pressure to see their reaction is a standard way of conducting interviews, but there is always a line never to be crossed. Take a look at the following for example. This is honestly pathetic.: YislSluyQ9Q Any show that believes that slapping a contestant hard on the face is a great way of auditioning needs to be taken off the screen immediately. Especially given that a large part of the viewers are teenagers. They like high adrenaline, but this is certainly not the way. Agree with you on this. Factoid- This guy made it to the finals in 5.0.

They not only accepted the story at face value, but never asked enough questions to test him, his character, his mentality. They simply got carried away with his story as we all did. A good HR professional will tell you that recruitments are never done on basis of what the candidate has to say about himself. Very rarely candidates are honest in what they say about themselves. It's a very common practice for them to tell selective lies that they think they can get away with and some of them can actually fabricate everything. And in almost all cases the fabrication is well practiced and hence can be difficult to detect. It's only through an intelligent dialog that one can judge a person and how appropriate he is for the position in question. I dont think the judges of roadies did a good job there.

I think you got the wrong end of the stick here. This is a reality show based on reactions and perceptions. To the juudges it doesnt matter if its 100% fake or bullshit as long as the guy can convincingly talk about it and strike the right chords among people they are not looking for a honest guy to run their financial accounts. They are looking for someone the audience can bond with, who can pull their emotional strings and get good raitngs which criteria this guy suits to a T Also, personaly as a human, in such cases, I believe its better to give benifit of doubt to 100 dishonest cheats rather than have a chance of doubting even one single person who might have gone through all these hardships

For fecks sake I was moved by his story in the auditions episode and he turned out another fake. Suck on MTV, Roaides, Splitsvilla and all these fake reality shows. Chewtiya banate hain saale. On a side note, the guy Nagesh can become a good actor. His acting was so good that he sounded genuine during the auditions.

A constant stream of rubbish keeps attacking you from far away and not long after your mind is full of saas-bahu shows and 'reality' tv :crazy4:.
